its a newer tv so I have all the slots and stuff.

i have speakers with 2 split ends with the red and black wire

Depends on what kind of speakers you got and what kind of connections you have in the back of your tv. In my experience, if you have a 1/8th inch jack, you need to find a headphone jack to plug it in to. Otherwise if it's just two copper wires, then you need a reciever.

the speakers have to hooked up to a receiver and the receiver is plugged into the speaker slots on the TV. If you have a cable box, they plug into the cable box if I remember correctly.

hook up your speakers to your reciever , then connect your reciever in any aux. slots behind your t.v. !

if you have an audio out on your tv (rca plugs typically) you can plug them into your stereo aux in....

you should be able to use auxillary wires from the house stereo to the t.v. match the colors appropriatly.
it goes (L) out from T.V.
to.........(L) in stereo
(R) out from T.V.
to..........(R) in stereo
