Bathrooms are, I believe, considered sort of a personal space. After all, bathrooms are where most people bathe, put on their makeup, do their hair, pluck eyebrows, etc. It's the room where they do all the behind-the-scenes things that make them appear as they do to the rest of the world. It is sort of a precious thing to have a private place to do these things, away from everyone else.

Since they have so many personal items in them (tampons, medications, etc.), that is probably why they are kept out of sight when guests are over, until the guest needs to use the bathroom. This is the reason a lot of nicer homes have a guest bathroom downstairs for only their use. These bathrooms are kept free of products (aside from soap), medications, and other personal things.

we do that. because bathrooms just are naturally disgusting (not literally) and you store alot of things in the bathroom that you wouldnt want other people to know about like embarasing medicine and products. we leave the guest bathroom open for use when guests are over. plus you wouldnt want people to see used toiletpaper in the waste basket would you.

If it's anything like my boys' bathroom I would prefer they keep the door shut all the time. Just like their bedroom. It's a pigsty!!!

I always make sure mine is closed. Germs float around in bathrooms, and I prefer them confined to that space.
