If i were a USA-citizen, how can i have freedom of religion by law, if the same government who made those laws keeps telling me that God blesses the USA?

Good question! I've been asking myself that for a long time and I am a citizen of the US.... The pledge of allegiance was altered in the 1950's to add the words "under God" during the McCarthy era and the communism witch hunt. Now, of course, most of the people who remember the way it was before are gone and those who grew up with it don't even know it was altered.... We were founded because the pilgrims wanted/needed religious freedom... Unless one is a Native American, we all arrived here as immigrants searching for freedom and now, in the 21st century the government is attempting to slowly take away those very freedoms.... quite a conundrum..

You just do. Freedom of Religion simply means you can worship or not worship the God of your understanding. Incidentally, Bush being President is NOT an example of God blessing the USA. It is more or less a curse.

Just because I say I love God does not mean that you have to. I can say that God blessed your house, does that effect your faith? If you want to live in the US, then you should realize WHY it is such a great nation. You can NOT take all the benefits without excepting where they came from. If you are offended by our beliefs, then you have every right to go somewhere else, but don't blame me and accuse me of being unfair or unjust, when you are reaping the benefits. What does your God say about THAT?

God Blesses America is just a general statement. "God" could be any "God".

In the other hand, Freedom of religion is you are free to choose whatever religion that you like.

Because the US says that the Politicians have the right to religion also, but they don't have the right to "institutionalize or make a state religion" So while, they can say your "blessed" they can't make you go to church. Freedom of Religion is ALSO Freedom FROM Religion.

youve hit osmehting thats a big problem in the US right now. it says that we have separation of church and state...meaning that the government cant take any religion and claim it as their own. the leaders are supposed to be neuutral when it comes to religion.

but the asshats in government seem to not care about it and are pushing their religious views along with their political views and allowing those religious views to guide their political views.

this is a really bad thing too. HELP! OUR GOVERNMENT HAS BEEN TAKEN OVER BY RIGHT WING NUTJOBS! SOMEONE CALL THE INTERNATIONAL POLICE TO COM AND FREE THE PEOPLE FROM THE RELIGIOUS FREAKS WITH THE NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

separation oif church and state is absolutely necessary or else we have religious dumba*ses goign around imposing their will all around the world....wait...we already have that... see what i mean!?!?!

Because you're free to go your own way. This country was founded upon Christianity but, unlike many other countries, we welcome all religions.

And the government is never specific. They never say Jesus Christ blesses the U.S.A. So it's mostly all encompassing. Worship whatever God you like.

And what country are you from that has more religious freedom than that? The U.S. isn't perfect, but I don't see anyone doing a better job.

Freedom of religion says that you don't have to be a Catholic or Episcopalian. And that the state in which you live can not have a state run church. You are "free" to choose without government interference.

u still have the freedom to worship who u want, but the US' constitution was built from principles of the Bible. That's why the US thrived. The government is just trying to lead people in the right direction. Let me ask this... do you ever wonder why there is shootings in schools? Cause the name of God was removed. Just think about that
