Every comment can be considered racist by someone if they so choose. There is so much to do in life than to worry about such petty BS. Turn off Fox and do something constructive with your time.

By the way, almost everything out of Carlos Mencia's (see other answerer's post) mouth is racist to the extreme. That guy is a pompous, holier-than-thou jacka$$.

The full comment by President Vicente Fox was: "There's no doubt that Mexican men and women - full of dignity, willpower and a capacity for work - are doing the work that not even blacks want to do in the United States."

It wasn't intended as an insult. It was explained that African Americans strive to better themselves and earn higher wages. The Mexicans who enter the country illegally will take whatever money they are paid because they are illegal.

It warns of the potential for Mexicans to be exploited because the US is cracking down on illegal immigration. Working class jobs are often filled by employers who hire immigrants who simply do not know their rights.

When people have less options, they may be forced to take menial, undesirable jobs, just to put food on the table. Although there are many poor "white" people (and wealthy african americans), the problem of poverty amongst "black" people in America is greater. Undesirable jobs tend to be filled by those who NEED work, and only until they find something better.

President Vicente Fox reversed course and apologised for his remark. "The president regretted any hurt feelings his statements may have caused," the Foreign Relations Department said in a press statement. "He expressed the great respect he and his administration has for the African-American community in the United States."

It is so easy to jump on words or grab statements taken out of context, neglecting to seek full understanding of the thought being expressed. We often don't choose the best words with which to express ourselves, so we must always take time to look at meaning and intent, for full comprehension.

"UNDERSTANDING" should be our goal.

What's racist about the truth? The truth has a reputation for hurting people's feelings. Alot of what "famous" blacks say in the media is downright racist themselves. I personally don't like black people in general just for that reason. I do have some close friends that are blacks, however. I believe that we should give people a chance to show us what they're like before passing judgment, y'know?

If it is true, then it is just a statement of fact. Others may also view it as a compliment. As long as the job helps other people and puts food on the table, what's degrading about it? What makes a comment racist is the motive behind it.

Sounds like it. But racist to the blacks, or Mexicans? I read this as Mexicans being hard workers.

If you think it is racist than it is. I don't personally think it is racist, because hell in this country it's the truth, people don't like to admit some things but it's the truth.

Most jobs that aren't "great" are usually ones you see Spanish who climbed the wall from Mexico illegally doing. Or blacks.

People are just a tad to sensitive in this country.

That's more than racist. When he puts "EVEN" before Blacks, that shows Blacks are low-life. And, Blacks are the least inferior human beings and they hold all the worst jobs.

By the old pre-80's definition of racism - yes. So what? Non-Whites do not fear being called racist. They advocate for ONLY their own intrests as they should. We (White folk) should do the same and naturally if we do not knowbody will. We must stop fearing being called names. the original definition of racism is not bad anyhow. Say it -I am racist - So What!!

By using terms like "Mexicans" & "blacks" instead of the correct political terms, then yes, it's only the tip of ignorance. Ignorance leads to racism.
