They believe that Xenu brought an assload of frozen alien convicts and dumped them into a volcano (serious) and they unfroze, becoming small ball like beings and sticking to anything they could, "infecting" them with bad behaviors, etc. They use "auditing" to get rid of these (which of course costs money as does everything in their "church" in order to progress). In the end, you learn that L. Ron Hubbard is God, so have fun with that!!

I would have to agree that it is out there as far as religions go, but then I am sure in Jesus' day many thought he was "out there" too. Oh, wait! They cruscified him for his teachings. I DO NOT endorse nor practice Scientology. But I DO support our country's constitution that states we can worship whomever we want to without persecution.
And to answer one of the other answerer's comments about who would follow a religion founded by a science fiction writer....I ask you who would elect a man who played in old westerns to be the leader of the strongest nation in the world? We did! Reagan. Also who would vote for the Terminator to be govenor of a state? Yes, that happened in the good ole' USA too!
Judge not, lest ye be judged for all you bible thumpers. What goes around comes around for the non-believers.
Just try to be peaceful with your neighbor and give others the freedom they deserve.
'Nuff said from me.

I can only give you my findings, whether you take this as fact is up to your own research. I do not endorse scientology or it's practice and indeed think the Church of Scientology is a dangerous cult. (oh and Xenu has been around for trillions of years not millions)
Here is what I find:

OK, I joined Scientology for about a month (a hottie talked me into it). The little bit that I know is that they believe that the bad things that happen to a person: sickness, hatred, pain, etc. are because of things that have happened in their past. They believe that by 'cleansing' these scars (for lack of a better word) through the use of dianetics (i.e. buying lots of L. Ron Hubbard 'fiction') will make you healthier, etc. I don't know about anything beyond that unfortunately.

You can go to yahoo.com and do a search on the "Church of Scientology". I was there recently and it's hard for me to describe. You'd get your best answers reading for yourself and then making up your own mind. In my opinion, they are cultish and silly. They'd have a lot more credibility if they didn't call themselves a "church" or a "religion" or believe in some alien named "Zenu" which existed 75 million years ago.

It's a crock. Does anyone else find it absurd that people could follow a religion that a science fiction novelist created?

Mary Baker Eddy founded the cultist "church" known as the Church of Christ, Scientist. Any "church" that does not rest its foundation of the LORD God of Israel (Yeshua whom we call Jesus Christ) is a cult and should be avoided.

It's a scam. They just want your money. You pay them lots of money & you "progress" thru their spiritual ranks, or so to speak.
It's a scam!
