I would say that people are guy because of confusion, but my honest opinion is being gay is not a choice. Think about it... do you think people want to be what most of society considers an outcast, evil, sick etc.? Being gay is not a choice, who would really want to expose be treated like they were less than human. It takes a person with strong will, courage, great self-esteem and acceptance of what their choice is. Although I'm not gay, I have a great respect for the ones who are not afraid to let the world know who they are regardless of what others might think.

Why does it matter? A person chooses (In one form or another) to live as they wish. A person who is Gay chooses to be so whether it is a conscientious effort or not the same with those that are straight or Bi-sexual... etc... Some people will misinterpret my meaning by my use of the word choose, but to be honest all people choose their own way in life to include their partners both friends and relationships. If they are attracted to men or women what difference does it make as long as they are adult and understand their choices and its effect on themselves and their partner or partners...

all fetuses are born female. The sex of a fetus is determined at a later stage. People who are gay do not chose to be that way. It is something which cannot be controlled, given the fact they are 'earmarked' before they are born.

no one knows why some people are gay the people who are don't probably know why they are. some people just tend to be attracted to the same sex and don't even feel attracted to the opposite.
