To know exactly how high the level is,check your analysis bulletin for normal range values. If this value is isolated, meaning all your other analysis are OK, and clinically you're OK, you should wait for a couple of months and repeat that analysis,If it's still raised, you should check for a doctor.

Normal range is 15-37IU/L. 39 is okay. Consult your doctor is it goes higher.
AST is a liver enzyme. If you consume alcohol it could cause it too elevate some.
Sometimes taking lipid reducing medications can elevate AST. A number of other medications can also.
If you want me to look at all your test results please email them to me.
Above all, remember, I am not a doctor.

mine stays at that or gets larger but I have a liver disease. They can fluctuate according to your other symptoms or illnesses. You can be perfect well and your levels could be elevated. And you could have terrible inflamation of your liver etc. and your levels can be low such as 39 or even lower. Can be symptoms of other diseases too, heart attack, etc.
