I know the Bible quotes so you can spare me that same line and I know the whole "Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve" routine as well. So, can you explain to me, in an original way, how homosexuals hurt YOU personally if you are not gay?Really, think about it..Think hard before you respond. How will you be hurt if gays get married? Will your marriage end? Will you stop liking the opposite sex?Do you think a gay neighbor is going to enter your home and force you to marry him?Really, I want to know! What is you personal beef on this???

And for those of you who like gays, thank you for your support and for those who are gay, let you be who you are and not deny yourself because of the judgemental mentality of the masses.

It doesn't. I think that marriage is a personal thing, so what marriage means to one person can mean something very different for another. Unfortunately, this "institute of marriage" also means that you are allowed certain privileges and rights by the government that singles are not entitled to...that's what all the fuss is about.

Personally, I'm a straight single woman and I have many friends that are gay and straight. I would have to say that of all my friends, I admire my gay friends the most . They face scrutiny about their lives and personal beliefs on an everyday basis and at the end of the day, they stand proud of who they are and the lives they lead. It is through this adversity that you truely understand yourself and your place in the world. I'm not sure I would fair so well if I had to constantly justify my life and my decisions. Kudos to those that stand up in the face of adversity.

Let gays marry so they can be unhappy like the rest of us. =-)

I have no problem with gay people. I don't have a religious beef with them, and I believe they should have equal rights and equal protection under the law.

But I'm not convinced gay people should be allowed to get married. Marriage has always been defined as a legal union between a man and a woman. Can that be changed? I suppose it can. What I don't understand is, are gay people looking for the same benefits and legal protections as married couples have? Or is the word marriage somehow special to them? Because I've never understood why they can't have the ceremonies (of some sort), the same benefits, and the same legal protections, and just not have it called marriage. Is that a good compromise or not? It seems like a good one to me, but I'm not the one being denied the word marriage.

Many of us well-meaning, ignorant heterosexuals are confused about what the actual dispute is. Is it for equality of benefits and rights? Or is it for the word marriage? I think that if that was cleared up for us, it would help resolve the situation one way or another.

And I hope all you gay people know what you're getting into. I was married once, and it was the worst time of my life.

Having many gay friends and family members, I am not hurt personally by their existence and even as a "Christian", I welcome the ability for them to marry or form civil unions for their own benefit since I know the legal ramifications for partners that have no legal protection when it comes to "next of kin", issues.

I will not be hurt if gays get married, my marriage will not end. Two of the couples in my family have been together 30+ years. I have no beef with this and whether or some religions have a problem with it, we need to remember that the United States is not a theocracy, it is a republic governed by a democracy. Therefore all freedoms should be bestowed upon all people who have reached the age of majority.

Earlier last year when King George II was threatening a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, I wrote a letter to the editor of my local paper along with the following quote from an earlier occupant of the White House.

"Prohibition ... goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), U.S. President.
Speech, 18 Dec. 1840, to Illinois House of Representatives

So go get married, and send me an invite, I love weddings!

Why are you as a gay person writing this question on the religion and spirituality section?? I wonder?? You see what you are doing is a perversion of marriage and your are making fun of God himself by doing this. It is like you are publicly making fun of my family and my kids by making a joke of my marriage.
Look at the gay parade. People are naked and doing sexual things in the parade, not all but some. This is really illegal, maybe you think it shouldn't be, but it is and the police do nothing.. My family should be able to go in public and not see these things. It is an infringement of my rights in public.
You are taking a perversion and trying to make it like a holy thing, which is what marriage is. In the Catholic church they say that marriage is a sacred union between a man and woman. You take something sacred and defile it in public. That is very wrong and should stop..
Somehow in your question you know that you are wrong and want to put down God and Christians to make what you are doing right. It can't be done and you need to repent of this sin and come to Christ. This is not judgmental it is correct. You know that you are wrong already or you wouldn't have posted here..

it rather is a lie and an over-attain. the point of the LGBT marriage regulations isn't for equivalent rights - it rather is an attempt to make gay love and marriage resembling heterosexual marriage. I strongly believe gay couples might have an comparable rights as reward as people in touch in a usual marriage. good right here in u . s . a ., we've self assurance all persons has the staggering to stay their very own lives any way they want, as long because of the fact it is not hurting diverse persons. No crew must be discriminated against for any reason. gay couples definitely have the staggering to civil unions or any variety of criminal coupling that aspects them an comparable rights and reward as each and each physique else. the area is the overreach - or the attack on classic marriage. it variety of feels that having equivalent rights isn't sufficient for the LGBT community. they want all persons to believe that a gay marriage and and a heterosexual marriage are an comparable ingredient. THEY definitely are incredibly no longer an comparable. we've diverse reproductive organs for procreation as suitable excitement. incorrect or appropriate, honest or unfair, evolution and technological awareness has little question that a heterosexual and and a gay marriage are 2 very diverse subject concerns. i do no longer understand why the LGBT community merely isn't waiting to purely be pleased with who they're and detect excitement of their adjustments with heterosexuals. Why do they conflict to make all persons opt to declare they're an comparable ingredient. If it have been have been the Nineteen Sixties and we've been interior the thick of the civil rights circulate, i'm going to nicely be all for blacks and minorities to have an comparable rights because of the certainty something of the country, yet on an identical time as they went so a procedures as stressful that I say that black people and white are an comparable ingredient (i think of they're equivalent, yet now no longer an comparable), i might tell them they're nuts. Be pleased with who you're and don't attempt to be something you're incredibly no longer! It makes you look such as you have an inferiority complicated on an identical time as there is no reason you may experience that way. The LGBT community has my sympathy for being dealt with unfairly for see you later. they might even have my help for equivalent rights. yet i'm disgusted by potential of how they're using our international locations sympathy and help to diminish back up their deceit.

Ok I will not quote scripture so sounds like you know what it says. It hurts everyone - the gay lifestyle and gay marriage harms society. I destroys the moral fiber of the country. Study history any society where the homosexual lifestyle was allowed as an open part of society has collapsed from within. I have a personal interest in my country for my future and the future of generation to come.

Just because I'm christian doesn't mean I'm your judge, I'm not. Doesn't affect me at all, and I really don't see the problem with it. It's not like you're suddenly gonna turn straight because you can't be married. Personally, I think if two people are together and love each other, they should be on each other's life insurance, and they should be covered by the medical insurance, if one isn't covered separately. They shouldn't be penalized by the life insurance either, such as being a non-family member having to pay higher taxes on the inheritance, etc.. Oooppps, got off on the wrong topic, huh? Sorry about that.

because we have to walk down the street and expalin to our kids why two grown men are kissing in the middle of the street......god never intended for it to be that way.....it is disgusting. Young children should not be raised thinking that it is normal and that they have an option on whether to be gay or straight. It is morally and ethically pathetic......be a real man and get some pusy you faag

its funny how i could tell bu your topic you would not be a fan of the president!!!! It is weak americans like yourself who do not defend our country. Dont forgot why we are a free nation today. It certainly did not come from homosexuals and hiding from the true hardships of life.....

love america, love our president, or get the **** out!!

People, yes it does.

Ok, if gay marriages become legal, then they are entitled to the same programs married people are. Our insurance premiums will raise ( from AIDS, etc..)

It will effect how society views marriage. Once you let gays legally marry when does it end? Why would gays be allowed to marry and you NOT allow the mormons, muslims, etc.. who want to marry multiple wives? What about beastiality? When do you draw the line??
