The ache is just to the right of the navel and has been going on for weeks now. There seems to be a tightening of the muscles in that area.

You need to get it checked out. Do you have problems going to the bathroom? Could be Chrone's Disease, IBD,
diverticulitis or possibly some of the things others suggested

You could have a hernia. Don't think it's kidney or liver because they cause back pain. Possibly gall bladder.

Could be kidneys stones. I've had them 4 times. The first sign was alway an ache in my side, usually the right, although I've had them on both sides. (I don't think appendicitis would go on for weeks.) See your doctor and ask for an IVP (an intravenous pyelogram is a type of x-ray examination specifically designed to study the kidneys, bladder, and ureters.) Good luck!

It could be time to ask your doctor.

It probably isn't anything serious, but it's obviously worrying you. Certainly, if it gets worse or doesn't go away, see a doctor.

Could be muscle spasms or appendicitis.
