Forget that person who said get a lawyer. Nice way to make you feel confident in the process. you cant even afford meds....

I got benefits right away! and back pay!! Actually, while in the hospital, social workers were begging me to apply services and disability.

my advice.....
*CALL YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC...MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TODAY!

*Don't holler, cry if you want, but TELL THEM YOU ARE BIPOLAR AND NEED MEDICATION AND A DOC.

they can lead you in the right direction for help and let go. social workers often have offices in the clinic to help people such as yourself.

good luck and love to you.

emeraldcitygirl has it exactly.. I don't know of a hospital in the country that doesn't have some sort of free care type of program for treatment.. inquire about how to begin treatment.. and they have an obligation to get you the help you seem to need.. after a few outpatient sessions they will give you the necessry referrals you will need to get in contact with the right people. all the websites in the world seem to say that bipolar disorder is something that no individual has the ability to self-diagnose.. but when all the puzzle pieces fit... the reality of the situation is that you need to put yourself in a position to get the help you need. Proper treatment and medication works wonders to stabilize yourself on a mental, physical, and emotional level. I am also bipolar. Trust me in saying that it is a manageable illness and there is hope, even if the whole world seems to be falling apart all around you.
Just find the courage to walk into the hospital and ask to speak with someone in the mental health department. Someone will ALWAYS make themself available to help you with whatever is on your mind..
Give yourself a fighting chance and it is amazing how so many people will fight for you to get the help you need.
Once you have your proper diagnosis.. study it and encourage those around you to do their own research as well. Dealing with mental illness is very difficult when you can't find the courage to end the madness of the mind and all the stress and frustration that becomes your life. And denial is your worst enemy. Knowledge is the answer to the riddle.
Seriously, get some help with this one.. and help yourself to get the help you so desperatly seem to need. And always remember you are not alone in the world..
Being bipolar is nothing to be ashamed of.. nobody that is bipolar, or afflicted with any mental illness has made a choice to be.. it just happens, simple as that.
Good luck :)

Well if u truly have bipolar disorder then how did you see a doc? if you went thru a clinic they have people that can help you apply for medicaid and i would suggest having someone go with you when u apply because its a confusing process. especially if your having an "episode" because of no meds. as far as SSI I would try and see if medication works for you first before going on that band wagon. it takes a while and u have to be out of work for an extended period of time before they even take an application i think its either 6 month or a year of being out of work before you can apply. and alot of people cant afford that. hope this helps.

Well, I'm not an expert on Medicaid, but I do suggest you talk to the disability support services at a local community college and see if they can give you the number of a vocational rehabilitation/ reintegration center. They can help you get a job despite the problems that bpd causes.

You need to see a mental health specialist to evaluate your disorder. Once it is determined that you are bipolar, you need to contact social secruity for an application. I would recommend getting a lawyer for you social security case. Without a lawyer it took me 10 years of suffering before I was declared a bipolar by social security and thus became eligible for their benefits. Once you are approved, you will automatically have health insuance. I would recommend getting into counseling and seeing a psychiatrist in the event you need medication.

you are able to desire to be bipolar or have any variety of temper subject concerns. Being a teenager is fairly perplexing emotionally, ask your mothers and fathers to take you to a counselor or maybe talk to a minimum of one at your college and tell them your indications.
