Salt raises yor blood pressure. Cholesterol clogs your arteries and restricts flow. Cholesterol also weakens your artery walls.
To raise your blood pressure under these conditions is dangerous. You are at high risk for a heart attack, embolisms, and arterial sclerosis (hardening of the arteries).
Use a salt substitute AFTER you check with your doctor. I use Mrs dash. It's tasty.
There are lots of ways to reduce your cholesterol, which may help to reduce your blood pressure. Most meats contain cholesterol, as do egg yolks and dairy products.
Email me if you want to and I'll give you some ideas for cooking
a healthier meal. I'm not selling anything. I'm just a classically trained chef who just had a heart attack on June 1st. I've had to learn this all myself. Michaelsmaniacal at yahoo.com

Did you mean high blood pressure and cholesterol? Salt contributes to high blood pressure by forcing the body to retain liquids, thereby increasing the work load on blood vessels and the heart. Use a salt alternative. I do not believe salt has any effect on cholesterol levels.

Salt will retain water. You dont need anything in your system, that will be blocking up in your lungs as water is want to do, or around the heart.

Too much in your body will do this if you are retaining water.

So, lay off the salt, unless your in training, or out in the sun a lot and excessive heat, then you will need the salt.

But as always, consult your Doctor to get proper medical advice...

I wish you well..
