I guess some people have the feeling that the other person can't hear them well through the phone. Sometimes it might be necessary for them to speak loud for the other person to hear, for example when somebody is in a noisy place or has bad hearing, but most of the time I guess people just don't realize that they're talking much louder than they need to.

In my family we sometimes joke that my father doesn't need to use the phone, the other person can surely hear him yelling from the other side of the city even without the phone. :)

Can you hear me now? They do it because of bad reception. You are talking to someone and all of a sudden you have a sinking feeling you were not heard by the person on the other end.

I had a cell for years when I was still working. Everyone calls you, business, friends and family. I wouldn't carry a cell phone if it was free. If someone wants me, call me at home and leave a message. I get cold chills when I am out and hear one ring! Go Away......................

Thinking about everybody does that. Maybe it's because they're so small people subconsciously think the person on the other end can't hear them

because of the fact the mouth piece is merely too far removed from their mouth & it creates a psychological reaction that they ought to yell to be triumphant in the mouth piece. you may think of cell telephone designers might layout a wraparound telephone from ear to mouth - that folds up of direction & is super slender and super gentle to alleviate this difficulty. p.s. it irritates me too - esp on the prepare.

because they are so small it is hard to believe they are picking up our voices. the smaller the phone.. the louder we yell. lol
