Taking your question literally, I've never been taught that I was to tell someone they were going (or rather condemn them) to hell. After a search of a Bible program I have, nowhere in there does it say that WE are supposed to tell people that. What I personally believe has happened is that people that consider them self of higher dignity or spirituality than others, condemn people (tell them them are going) to hell because they don't conform to their learnings and have what is called the "Holier than thou" attitude. I personally see the horribly wrongful things in this world, but I leave the condemnation to hell to the Lord God Almighty.

The use of hell has always been used by Christianity to sway people into becoming Christians. It took on mass use when it became a conversion tool in use at mass rallies such as the Billy Graham and alike. Then, conversion, became a science whereby techniques such as emotional manipulation, hypnosis, psychology etc became tuned techniques.
The threat of going to hell is akin to threatening someone with death as is the promise of eternal life.
The hypnotic effect is produced by using throbbing music which increases slowely mimmicing and inducing the heatbeat to increase. Then the preacher begins with mono even toned voice to suduce the viewer and then the Hell factor is dropped, shocking the viewer with a threat of death. This threat is allowed to continue until the viewer is desperate for a solution - then the conversion takes place - to provide a resolution. Studies show that it is very hard to resist this, because the hypnotic effect is so huge especially when there is a mass crowd.
If you look into hynosis you will understand just how easy it is to achieve.
So you see that the Hell factor is almost esential to the conversion and thats why it is used so much today. Say something often enough and people will believe you.

The Bible tells us the way to avoid judgment but we are only to declare the way of salvation not to judge who goes where. However the way is clearly laid out in the Bible that apart from Jesus Christ there is no salvation.
Hebrews 10:28-30
Anyone who has rejected Moses’ law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.[b] And again, “The LORD will judge His people.

You must have missed the Revised Bible. That's the one used by Christians these days. The R.B. basically says that Christians are always right and non-Christians are always wrong. It also has a section dedicated to how wrong homosexuality is. All undesirable parts of the original bible have been taken out
(ie. "These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat: And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you." Deuteronomy 14:9-10 ). And it also says that Christians are supposed to spread their religion through all means necessary. Christianity must be forced into all aspects of life and anyone who doesn't believe must be told daily that they will go to hell.

Read JOHN 5:28-29, 2 Thess.1:7-9, 1 Peter 4:18 ROMANS 2:8-9, Matt.25:46
God does not want anyone to be lost and sent his only begotten Son to die
for our sins but he wants us to believe in his Son and be baptised for the remission of our sins. If we do not obey our God-we will be in eternal
punishment(hell). The scriptures repeat this so many times and God does not lie. We are not to judge people-that is for God to do but we can teach or tell people what the scriptures teach about being lost, to try and help them.

Jesus Christ have talked more about hell than any preachers. You can find that in KJV bible in the New Testaments bible Matthew, Mark, Luke, & John, In the book of John explain more about hell and What you will expect when you do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ or like you didn't know and had you die, You would have died in your sins and fact hell for all eternal (forever & ever, never ending). God made us to live forever, only in our soul. You might ask "How do we know we have soul?". You have heart and mind, these are soul of our skin cover it. Our flesh is only limit. It is by Grace, that we have faith and believe and Trust in Lord Jesus Christ and You will know this from your heart not from Mind but from your heart when you accept and believe. Read all the book of Roman and you will know.

well Here are some of the examples of what the bible teaches. When you don't have eternal life then you go to hell. So you are not preaching hell, as everyone was destined to hell, but the GOOD NEWS is that you don't have to go there. You must recieve Jesus and be saved. When the Bible talks about death, there are two types of death. The one here on earth and then the second death... You think that anyone living should not be warned about what is going to happen.. If I didn't tell you what kind of person would I be. You must be warned so that you can take the appropriate action to save yourself..
Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Mat 18:9 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.
Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Mar 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Well, that's an interesting question. I would have to say that "I" do not have the authourity to tell people they are going to hell. I am simply telling them what Jesus Christ has already said. Jesus says "...wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it." (Mat 7:13 NKJV) Besides, I would much rather tell people how much Christ loves them, that He died on a cross for them, that He wants us all to come to repentance. Hell is a very real place and there is no way of not talking about it, but I would rather talk about His absolute love, personally. That's my 2 cents.

First of all, I think it's out of frustration, and not being able to convince someone to believe in Jesus...that anyone would simply say "well you're going to hell". You're right, there's no where in the bible that says we're to throw that in someone's face.
Now....if a person asks me, you mean if I don't believe in Jesus Christ, I'm going to hell? My answer will be, the bible says, yes.
I don't go around telling people they are bound for hell. But if they ask me straight out, I will tell them what the bible says about it.

First let me say that God sendeds no one to to Hell that it is a chose that we make are self. God has made a plan that can save us and that plan is through his son Jesus the Christ (John 3:16)
Now to answer your question:
(Hebrews 9:27)
And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
After we die we will all be judged and some will go to heaven and some to Hell.
But there is good news Jesus has paved the way to Heaven for us all, read Romans 6:23, John 1:12
We are told by Jesus to give this message to people he did it in
the form of stores called parables. ( Luke 16:19 - 30)
If some one asleep in a burring house would you tell them the house was on fire or just run out and only save yourself?.
We are to tell people they are headed for hell with out Christ, but not in a Judgmental way , for as it is said in Romans we have all sinned and fallen short of Gods Glory.
If you Love people you tell them the truth.

The Bible (Good News) teaches the way to heaven and believers are commissioned & instructed to share this good news to the unsaved because Jesus gave His life for all!...On the other hand, it wouldn't be fair to anyone if they didn't know the truth about Heaven & Hell!...To answer you question: believers are to show the unsaved the way into Heaven and to also tell the unsaved about hell and give the unsaved the choice to choose!........Not by any means, do believers or anyone else have the right to Condemn anyone to Hell...GOD IS THE JUDGE!.....
