Yes there are tables which can prevent a female dog from allowing fertilized eggs to implanting in the uterus, if given within 24 hrs. these should not be used as birth control as they do have side effects which should be discussed with the veterinarian before you use this methode of preventing an unwanted litter.

Many veterinarian prefer not to use the pill and would rather spay a pregnant female than allow an irresponcible owner the chance to breed a dog later.(puppy mills) they may work with you if they have a good relationship with you and do not believe you are irresponsible. Talk to your veterinarian for more information. they may not carry the right medication for professional and personal reasons. Most do not.

No magic pill after a few days, but some vets will abort puppies if not too far along and if included in a spaying. If it costs a little more, remember the cost of actually bringing those pups into the world. (ie all those puppy shots, de-worming, possible labor problems with the mother that could need medical care, etc...) Just look at your local shelter , humane society or dog warden to see all the unwanted puppies already there, that may help you make up your mind.

No. Long ago, vets used to give something called a "clean out shot" but vets no longer use this b/c it is not safe. My vet that I worked for would spay if pregnant though if owner did not want to have the puppies. It cost more though.

Ps. There is NOT a pill to neuter dogs. That guy is an idiot!

There is, and something they called a "mismate shot". Both were proved to have many problems. The best thing for the dog is to either have the puppies, or spay the dog early on in the pregnancy. If you are going to jeopardize the health of the dog, it is just better to spay her.

Not that I know of. But your vet can spay your dog - even when she is pregant. You should definitly get your dog spayed - weather you decide to wait until after she has the litter, or after.

Not to my knowledge but you can take them in to be spayed if they aren't to far along in pregnancy. Some vets do it anyway for a little extra fee.
