Cats learn the "swift neck snap" technique when mama cat teaches her kittens how to hunt. Cats who don't receive their predator training from mama will probably never learn the technique. Their instict tells them they should be "doing something" with little wiggling critters, but they have never really learned that the something is "kill it and eat it".

You should keep him inside the house anyway and get him some toys to play with. Outside cats are literally at any human's mercy. There's no telling some things cruel people will do. Also, there could be a big dog or another wild animal that could hurt him. There could also be other cats that have fatal diseases or fleas, and you wouldn't know if he had them. The best thing to do for his safety and health would be to keep him inside.

A month isn't very lengthy, pretty if he hasn't considered any rats earlier.Cats study searching skills from their moms, so possibly he in person-friendly words realized birds? yet there is not any way i have ever heard of that could want to practice a cat to seek one element and under no circumstances yet another. And contained in the nation-state there are consistently rats round - merely ascertain there aren't any foodstuffs outside to tempt them. As for feeding, cats clearly opt to eat little and in many circumstances, so one large meal an afternoon would no longer be a strong plan.

The simple fact is, you can't. Its in the cat's nature to behave this way, and unless you are willing to watch him 24/7 to take away anything he catches, its impossible.

My cat used to do the same thing, and I think he was curious to see what a mouse looks like on the inside. he stopped being a mouser when he was like two, so maybe your cat will get bored, too.

The only way is to take it away from the cat. It is an instinct for them to do that. They are hunters and that is how they prolong the hunt.

House cat is the wrong term, for a cat that is not kept indoors.

As for his/her hunting techniques, you cannot change that, as long as they are outdoors unattended.
