God. "Take your son, your only son – yes, Isaac, whom you love so much – and go to the land of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will point out to you." (Genesis 22:1-18) Abraham takes his own son up on a mountain and builds an altar upon which to burn him. He even lies to his son and has him help build the altar. Then Abraham ties his son to the altar and puts a knife to his throat. He then hears God tell him this was just a test of his faith. However, God still wanted to smell some burnt flesh so he tells Abraham to burn a ram.

Even though he didn't kill his son, it is still an incredibly cruel and evil thing to do. If Abraham did that today he would be in jail serving a long sentence as someone's prison-b*tch. It amazes me how Christians see this story as a sign of God's love. There is no love here, just pure unadulterated evil.

If you are going to quote scripture my friend ...

Which even the Devil can do better than anyone...

At least quote it in full context: and also look at the reasons behind the actions God took!!

Try studying the whole word of God (The Bible) and look at the bigger picture!!

Matthew: 19: 13-14

Jesus Blesses Little Children:

13(A)Then some children were brought to Him so that He might lay His hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.
14But Jesus said, "(B)Let the children alone, and do not hinder them from coming to Me; for (C)the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Matthew 21:15 (New American Standard Bible)

15But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the (A)Son of David," they became indignant

We can all quote the scriptures: accept the ones we do like, reject the ones we don't ... twist them here, bend them there to suit our needs, & or excuses!!

But it is a totally different thing to be given, or want the understanding of it, and have the faith to believe!!

God bless you, & may He open your eye's & your heart to his word.

How good is any religion whose hands bear the blood that Christianity does? See the answer posted by the hypocrite who was first to answer the question, suggesting that it is justified as long as it encourages you to read the Bible.

But that book - that apocryphal atrocity of conjecture and fiction - is responsible for the Mediaeval Crusades, the burning alive of Protestants by Queen Mary, the English Civil War, the 9/11 bombings and a list of others that is as long and depraved as the history of Christian society. It has caused more death and destruction, more hate and horror, more terror and torture than anything else in the known and recognised history of humanity.

"Pure, unadulterated evil" doesn't cover it.

I am a Muslim and I can comment on this because Abraham is the root of Muhammad.
-First, In Quran Abraham son was Ismail (Ishmail) not Issac!!, and Abraham and Ismail went to where Holy Mosque is (Mecca) and they both rebuilt the Holy Building where Muslims direct their forehead toward during Praying.
-Second, Yes God instructed Abraham to sluaghter Ismail and Abraham did not know what to Do as the instruction came in his dreams (Could be a a Devil act, but Devil can not take God form, he wondered), so Abraham consulted his son Ismail and Ismail cooled his father down and told him"My father, if it is God will, so I ought to follow and you ought to follow as well", so Abraham put his son and started the slaughtering process and at the moment, God replaced Ismail with a sheep which is the one Abraham slaughtered.
-In the memory of this sacrifice and as part of our God instructed rituals Muslims in their Hajj Feast slaughter the sheep as a sacrifice.

So based on this version of the story I can understand the meaning of obedience(Sacrifice) and That God is not only good, but God is who created goodness as well as who those feelings inside us toward our children(We could feel differently if it is not a God will) also, that God is Just (Abraham did not at the end kill his own faithful Son) and thus I can trust more in the story mentioned in Quran.

So I thank you so much for informing me about that story in your book as I did not know it is mentioned else where and I see why it seemed not logical to you.

This whole story is just a test of Abraham's faith in God, and how he would do anything for God. To answer your question how good is God, there are simply no words to describe Him, because our minds can't even begin to comprehend how great He is.

You gotta have faith.
Hebrews 11: 17By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
18Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:

definitely!!! It advance into something greater formal, yet I used to speak to Him regardless of the reason and because I stored forward to my own ambition and desires, whilst He gave me avertisements I saved none and did my way going into further and added trubles! Into an end, interior of a deep depresion, He saved my existence (!!!) the very 2nd I left away of all my deep needs... There, empty coronary heart, i advance into full of God's easy and Peace and Love - an entire New existence, a clean physique, a clean resourceful and prescient over the final and the destiny :) :) :) definite, he's my Saviour!!!

From looking at all your questions, you have been spending a great deal of time reading those Scriptures. You must have had some horrible nightmares when you went to sleep, because you skimmed over anything that remotely had a positive connotation.
