Algae and marine vegetation, an example of which would be green seaweed or kelp, replenishes about 75% of the worlds oxygen, not trees. However, as has been stated since trees do absorb much of the CO2 output by humans we cannot afford to lose them. Global warming, global catastrophe. Ironically, I believe the human race is so resilient, so resourceful and ingenuitive, that the human race would find a way to survive.

RE:
could we live in the world without trees if so how long?

Yes, sort of.

If all trees magically disappeared, we would lose a great deal of the Earth's CO2 --> O2 mechanism. We live symbiotically with plants because we are not competing for the same fuel. Without trees, CO2 levels would increase dramatically. Eventually, we would begin dying due to low oxygen levels (assuming no SCUBA-type apparatuses). This would decrease the oxygen use, increasing oxygen levels, making our air more human-friendly.

So, remove the trees, significantly decrease the animal population (including humans).

Well, for the first 250 or so years since the pilgirms landed in Mass., Americans did just fine without electricity. I will assume you mean that all energy utilities would be cut-off? I do have natural gas (and electricity) running to my house. I have a kerosene heater, so the first thing I would do with the 5-day warning is to buy large kerosene fuel tanks and fill them up, along with other things I might need for the heater. I would probably buy another heater or 2. I would hit myself upside the head for not buying a house with a fireplace [Homer]d'OH[/homer]. I also have a portable generator, so I would buy gasoline in large drums to power it up for a while. I would eat most of the frozen food I have stored in my freezer so it wouldn't go to waste. I would buy alot of manual tools, kitchen gadgets, and such, that I have as powered devices, now. I could always buy a bunch of solar panels, and run everything off of those. That's all I can think of, right now.

Trees are the main stores (or sinks) of CO2 gas and are producers of oxygen, With no trees on earth the atmosphere would change dramatically and human life would cease to exist

you must be insane or worse.
the trees is what makes this planet habitable ,they produce the atmosphere that protects us from the sun.
they absorb heat during the day .transmit heat in the cold night
and so balance the temperatures to be liveble for us .
in desserts you cook in the day and freeze in the night
this is apart form producing the water that we need to drink to survive
material for fuel,and shelter.
produvction of oxigen that we need to breathe

provide environments for animals and shade for food producing plants etc etc
with out trees this planet would look like Mars
a burned out dessert planet ,with out air or water

and nothing would live here exept maybe some underground bugs for a while

theoretically if there were no trees tomorrow ,we would probably all be dead in a week
a few hours is more like it.

Yes, as long as there was plant life. But a lot of the life that depends on trees would disappear.

yes. but for like 2-3 days. Trees produce the oxygen we need to survive. the 3 days that we are able to survive is from the slight slight slight teeny minimal amount that the plants give us. so we need to think about the earth more

No, we couldn't. Trees make up the whole carbon dioxide to oxygen cycle, and if that were to disappear, then we would be like Venus
