This is the BEST question I have ever seen anywhere, & I thank you for that. Unfortunately, it's a very unhappy one for people like me. Many people are good, & they have to pick up the slack for the bad ones. Nobody will ever know why, but we can just hope that they stop abusing animals one day. There was a case, where a Loser, slit the throats of 6 puppies from a litter, the 6th one survived. All because his girlfriend wouldn't give one of the puppies. Just last summer, I had to stop a few teenage boys from killing a goose. So, you are correct, there is alot of vermin in the world. I don't think in my lifetime, this crap will ever stop.

Most people who treat animals badly do it out of ignorance. The majority of animal cruelty isn't in the form of violence, it's neglect, or killing with kindness. Whether a dog is too thin or dangerously overweight, its quality of life is diminished. Also, people don't take into account an animals emotional needs.
Of course, there are people who treat animals badly physically. That's simple to explain. An animal is an easy target for someone to use who's angry, and too cowardly to face up to their own problems.

Not all people treat animals bad. Many people treat their pets like their best friend. Unfortunately you have people who don't care how they treat anyone (animals or people). They tend to go hand in hand. People that harm animals as children, tend to hurt people as adults. As far as why they treat animals badly, they just don't have any respect for other living beings.

I agree with the first 2 answers. People who abuse animals are sick and demented some are even sociopaths. To harm an animal is about as bad as harming a child. Neither one can defend themselves so must make them feel big.... Wish people would grow up and pick on someone there own size

Ignorance. A living creature should be treated with kindness & compassion but some people don't have that for other people let alone an animal. It's sad.

I think our society should start punishing people more for animal abuse. I think the same laws should apply for animal abuse as it would for a person. You kill an animal, you get the same treatment as if the animal were a human.
I feel if someone rapes or kills anything that is breathing, he/she should be placed in the middle of the city they did it in and be shot to death right there. WHY do we support these idiots in jail and then we let them out to go do it again?
Change the laws and there would not be as many criminals.......

they are sick individuals. Look at your serial killers. Jeffery Dahmer, Ted Bundy, etc. They all start out abusing animals. If you know of an animal being abuse, mistreated. Do something about it. By the way, the human animal is the worst animal there is!!

because of all the species on the planet...humans find pleasure in pain, abuse, cruelty, and violence.
all you have to do is turn the TV on to see it.
in all the years that i have volunteered with the ASPCA, and the Humane Society (no matter where I've lived over the years), i am surprised everyday by the forgiveness of animals, and shocked at the cruelty of humans.
i find it amazing that a dog who was thrown from a moving car at 55 mph, and had half the skin on its back torn off, can look at me with love in its eyes and lick my face.
i find it amazing that a cat that was almost kicked to death can find pleasure enough in my touch to purr when i pet him.
i find it amazing that a puppy not more that 5 months old can come running to me when i call him, tail wagging, after having his eyes poked out with a rusty pocket knife by a group of teenagers.
i find it amazing that a horse that was almost starved and beaten would allow a group of children to hop on her back and let them ride her around a pasture.
i am amazed every day by animals; and DISGUSTED every day with humans.
how can humans be so cruel? because it is in our nature to be. superior species?? i think not.

I don't think I will ever understand why someone could cause harm on such an innocent creature.
I see them as nothing but scared cowards. There's a reason why they aren't hurting someone their own size and someone who has the ability to fight them back.

Because they have no morals, and were probably were not raised right when they were a kid. They take their frustration out on animals. Sick people out there.
