First of all you are not being discriminatory. You just want other Christians input. Its like asking fashion advice and saying "girls only".
Now what I got out of the verse was that you need to be careful how you handle certain people and situations. I think God wants us to do what He wants us to in situations because He knows best. There are a lot of people out there you are unappreciative and wont accept what you do. I think this is for our protection.

Good question. I am reading that verse in the Mesage. Pretty biting words. I think the point was to not lose your own reverence for God and that which is holy just to apease those around you.

Personally God and Jesus are fun folks. We laugh and play all of the time but when it comes to caring for others, listening to God's wisdom directly or through others or offering hope God gets downright serious real fast.

I have been cuffed in the back of the head a few times by God for being glib. It is not fun, humbling which automatically puts you back ib God's good graces but sadening because I know I upset the one who's opinion I care most about.

I hope this helps and you aren't prejudice because of it's source:)

Jesus Christ counseled: "Do not give what is holy to dogs, neither throw your pearls before swine, that they may never trample them under their feet and turn around and rip you open." (Mt 7:6) Evidently Jesus meant that, if a person shows that he is like a dog or a swine, with no appreciation for spiritual things, one should not further endeavor to share spiritual thoughts and teachings with him. Such corrupt persons would only trample upon valuable spiritual things and abuse or injure anyone endeavoring to share these with them. Jesus also illustrated the preciousness of the Kingdom of the heavens by speaking of "one pearl" of such high value that a traveling merchant seeking fine pearls "promptly sold all the things he had and bought it. Thereby Jesus showed that an individual appreciating the true worth of gaining the Kingdom of the heavens would be willing to part with everything in order to gain it.

Matt. 7:6 "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you"

It just talks about how you shouldn't say precious things in front of those people that won't appreciate them & will insult you just like the above people did. But don't worry, they will get their reward!

Some of the stuff that is already mentioned I will agree with, do not worry about the insults and sarcasms, their time will come when they stand before God on his White seat fo judgment and they will have to tell God why they said the things they did, do not fret pray for them though and hopefully their lives will be turned and their hearts made soft before it is to late, but if not, they WILL receive what they always wanted, eternity without God. But I pray that God will forgive them though and that it saddens me so many people will say the things they do, they know not what they say or do, God still loves them, we need to show them the way Ambassador.

This quotation is not actually about dogs and swine but an analogy as such.

The "dogs" and "swine" here stand for the unappreciative and worldly; unappreciative and uncaring men and women who belittle the value of what is offered to them. "That which is holy" would be the meat offered in sacrifice to God. A dog could care less whether it came from the altar or the garbage. The swine have no appreciation for either the beauty nor the value of the pearls under their feet

Yes, this is a public forum, but I think it isn't unreasonable for the asker to ask a specific group a question.

I'm not a practicing Christian and as I have posted in other areas and boards, I don't believe in the validity of the Bible as God's word. However, I think it is mean to try to sabotage the asker's question.

To answer your question, I don't have a Bible in front of me, so I'm not sure what Matthew 7:6 says, but I sure do know what Matthew 7:1-5 says, which to put in a nutshell it starts with "Judge not lest ye be judged, and ends with "thou hypocrite, remove your own plank before you remove the speck on thy brother's eye".

As far as I'm concerned, anyone who ignores this part of the Bible, even if they religiously follow all other scriptures deserves NOT to be called a Christian or referred to as one.

By the way, thank you for causing people to actually open their Bibles, and look up the verse. In looking in a few Bible commentaries I found this...
"That is, talk not of the deep things of God to those whom you know to be wallowing in sin. neither declare the great things God hath done for your soul to the profane, furious, persecuting wretches." Quoted by John Wesley.
This is an old commentary so the wording is a little harsh, but I think it gives you a good idea of what the verse means. I think even the crude responses you received from unbeliever' s help to bring to light the meaning of this verse.

He means do not give what you have to ungrateful people. Give not that which is holy unto the dogs...Don't give something that is sacred to you to someone who uses you.neither cast your pearls b4 swine lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and render you.... Meaning if you give something of importance be it love or material things to ungrateful people hypocrites and users, they will take it but it will mean nothing to them and they will come back and use you again and again.
Now as a christian i must say something on my behalf.what you did in your question was wrong and you should be ashamed of yourself as a christian. A true christian would listen with open ears to all opinions. Not only that of a christian. If you are closed mind to others thoughts then you will never learn the truth. Remarks like that are what make all the 'non believers' non believers. We are suppose to be open minded and open hearted Hun. Please remember that always. How can you expect someone to ever listen and understand our views if you are not willing to understand and listen to their views. That in itself describes a hypocrite.

Essentially the act of imparting wisdom and the Gospel on the utterly foolish scoffer is wasted. A person who is lost without Christ will be to some degree searching or seeking or at least receptive to some degree whereas the "haters, blasphemers and hard hearted' will do nothing but trample the truth under their feet and then rake you over the coals for even attempting to share it. Pray for them however, beyond that...metaphorically shake the dust from your feet and never enter that particular town again. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><

Matthew 7:6

6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.

What he’s saying is this: do not continually offer holy things to people who devour them, reject them, and turn them back to you lacerated and torn apart. You know what I believe he’s saying? I believe he’s saying that you only need to present the gospel to a certain point and when then people become abusive and blasphemous, it’s time to cease at that point, at least, the offering. There is a limit.
