Why do Athiests just NOT believe in God? And then I usually see mean answers in some questions that ask something about God and some of them are like, "Dude, god isn't real you freak" or something like that. Why are athiests so mean to Christians sometimes? Why can't they accept what Christians believe in? I mean, some are really mean (while some are nice) to Christians just because they believe in God. Don't we have the RIGHT to believe in who we want to??

Please Do NOT flame me.

I didn't say that all athiests are mean because there was one time when I wasn't a Christian of course. And I also know that people are annoyed when Christians tell Athiests that they "aren't go to Heaven" and all the mean stuff but some Athiests are just mean...I mean SOME not most.

And I DO accept what they believe in but I was just asking why some Athiests just are...not nice and some are rude (and again, I'm not saying ALL athiests).

Okay, I know that some Christians are mean too because they want athiests to believe in God and they're all mean too but I'm not that kind of a person and I really am mad at those Christians because you can't force people to believe in what they don't want to believe in.

Of course you have the right to believe what you want. Likewise, Agnostics and Atheists have the right to not believe what you want. We simply can not understand how someone can believe something for which there is no evidence, much like I think you can't understand why someone can't just take it on faith.

As far as being mean, I think there are probably an equal amount of idiots on both sides. It would be much nicer if everyone respected everyone else's right to believe or not believe without trying to convert one way or another or insult.

It sounds as if you're not accepting what they believe in.

It goes both ways, and unfortunately, on this site in particular, there seems to be a huge lack of acceptance. I see posts every day from religious and non-religious people alike, that are entirely critical of the other, for no apparent reason.

All of us need to stop generalizing, to begin with...it's really not fair to lump all atheists, or all Christians into any bucket. Not all atheists are mean to Christians, and vice-versa.

The next step is to start turning the other cheek. We ALL (at least here in the U.S.) have the right to believe whatever we want, and there is no excuse or justification for being so hateful and hurtful.

P.S.
Atheists don't believe in God for essentially the same reason you DO believe in God...Because that's what you believe in your heart.

I've been asking that same question over & over and I still haven't gotten a real true answer yet from any of the God Haters!......as you can see atheists are crule, mean, judgmental, condemning, rude, and disrespectful to all believers especially christian believers!....and you're right, I found that atheists are mean & crule to believers Just Because Believers Are In Christ!...That's The Only Reason That They Are On This Religious/Spiritual Site!.......So Sad!

They get mean about your beliefs for the same reasons many zealous Christians get mean about theirs. There are bullies and stupid people on both sides. All you can do is compare the mean-spirited athiest to a mean-spirited Christian. They might realize the level they have sunken to, and will calm down a little.

Atheists would probably accept that christians have their beliefs if the christians weren't constantly attacking atheists for not believing in god.

Perhaps it is because some christians don't treat them with respect and vice versa. That puts both sides feeling like they are on the defensive and what will most do when they feel their back is against the wall...

My golden rule - respect is only earned by giving it...

Christians are mean and have a wall up that makes them ignore scientific facts. In doing so they try to help people but inadvertntly hurt people.
right now they're fighting to stop gay people from getting married. Thats mean. I guess the bible made them do it. No one who uses their concious could be that mean.

I am a believer but I notice it goes both ways. Some Christians are real flakes too.

I am an Atheist and I respect your beliefs. I only wish you could respect mine. I believe we only have a short time here on Earth and we should do and believe what makes us happy and content. I am happy not believing in God, you are happy believing in him. Can't it just be enough that we are both happy in our beliefs?
