From my personal experience, financial aid is absolutely pitiful for the middle class but exceptional if you are poor.

When I started college, my family income was a little over the national average, and as a result the financial aid package I received was very short on grants (aka free money) and heavy on loans (aka money you have to pay back).

During my first year, my dad became very ill and could no longer work. Our family income went from average to next to nothing. However, my subsequent financial aid packages became very generous, with the majority of my expenses covered with grants. I ended up graduating with $10,000 in student loans, which is pretty low. I could defer payment of all of my loans until after I graduated.

So if your school operates anything like mine, the less money you have, the more money the school will help you out with. In my case, I was very pleased with my school's financial aid situation as I could not have finished my studies otherwise.

The webiste are for anyone who needs to read up on financial aid.

To answer your question the more you make the less help you get from anywhere. I think the cost of books should be lowered! They should sell them used for much less than they do.
I think other expenses that come along with school should be, considered at a higher percetage. Especially w/ the rise of energy cost!!

The government could do more to fund education expense for everybody. The other two are right, the more you make, the less you can expect to receive. It's a punishment for parents who worked hard but didn't have enough to save for education.
