People you say the serpent because that is what churches teach but try reading what I quoted. Every word the serpent said was proven true. God Said they would die. This was a lie! Read Genesis 3:7 it is exactly what the serpent said. THEIR EYES WERE OPENED!
Then if you read Genesis 3:22 God admits the serpent was telling the truth and they were like gods knowing good and evil.
The statement of we are gods was then repeated by Jesus in John 10:34 which was a direct quote from Psalms 82:6

NOTE: I said AS IT IS WRITTEN! Not As it is taught!

Adam, Genesis 3:7-10

God can not lie since God created all, so therefore, God created truth. God's words "or you will die" were stated from the perspective of "If you do this you will be dead to me since you show me and my wishes no respect."

The serpent didn't lie. Adam and Eve's human existence did continue after eating the fruit.

Adam lied. He and Eve clearly fashioned clothes to wear in Genesis 3:7 yet when God asked Adam why he hid Adam said because he was naked even though he was clothed.

Without looking at the readings you so generously provided, it seems that you already have your answer. Because you ask a question you already have an answer to, and since it regards religion, I can only that you have one of two possible agendas, maybe even both:
You're either trying to make a point, OR...
You're trying to start a fight.

Like I said, the two could be related. After poking around for 5 seconds, I know that you are new to Yahoo! Answers, so here's some friendly advice. There are plenty of people who have actual questions, & controversy is QUITE abundant within the religion section.

There's more than enough heated discussion without people "asking" something just to make a point. If you want to fight, don't worry, you'll get your chance!

Please keep in mind, mankind had paradise until they disobeyed
GOD. Everything was in harmony and peace.
After the disobedience the ground was cursed, man was forced to painfully toil, and the pain of child bearing for women was increased.
There is NO lie on the part of GOD. He gave them an order that they disobeyed. One day with GOD is as a thousand years to mankind. Adam did die before he reached 1000 years of age, which would have been 1 day to GOD.
Therefore, what GOD spoke was the truth man died the same day (GOD's day) in which he ate from the tree and what HE said came to pass as HE promised.
Have you accepted JESUS, asked HIM into your heart and repented of your sin in order to be born again? If not, you can do that now and be cleansed of all unrighteousness.
May GOD be with you, and give you the wisdom, and answers that you're seeking.

God never lied first or never lied at all. God never said that they would die immediately, they did die a physical death later and also a spiritual death (which is because of the separation from God in the garden do to eating the fruit that Satan Tempted then and deceived them into believing that they would not die and be like gods). Which means Hell was their final destination NOT Heaven. We are not gods we can not create a world of our own we are not all powerful. The only one True God Yahweh is the Alpha and Omega All Powerful God. And Jesus never said that we are gods. Not to my husband and I's knowledge and teachings anyway.

They did die. God never said they would die right away. And God did not tell them what would happen if they ate the tree other than that they would die, which happened (they are not alive today). He just told them not to do it. They did not become like God as the serpent said.

Satan was a murderer from the beginning and the father of lies.

Psalm 82:6 from Amplified Bible
6I said, You are gods [since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives]; indeed, all of you are children of the Most High.

The term "god" is not the same as YHWH, Lord, or Most High

Adam and Eve did die eventually, God did not say they would die as soon as they ate of it, He simply said eat and you shall surely die. Satan used this very reasoning to trick them. Eve ate because she saw it was good for wisdom. Obviously Adam ate of the apple because Eve, playing the Guinea pig, didn't die. Satan is obviously so deceptive he has even deceived you through the use of God's Word just as he did with Adam and Eve.

John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

I don't know what bible your reading... but atleast your not taking it straight from the mouth of a preacher and learning for yourself...

I would add this though... God did not lie... Adam and Eve died, did they not? or are they still alive today? No, they are not. God said they would die if they ate the fruit and they ate the fruit and look they are dead!!! And yes I am saying that if they did not eat the fruit they would have lived for ever, but they would not have been able to have children or find true joy unless they partook of the fruit and 'fell' into mortality.

God doesn't lie. God may change God's mind, but God does NOT lie.

The way you have referenced this question is something called "Bible Quarterbacking," meaning that one takes verses out of context and pieces them together to support an argument. It's a very faulty logic (as it puts poetry and history and myth and tradition, etc. all equal in factuality) and one of the poorest uses of scripture quotations.

Good for you, you will make a great many people think with that one.

I think you may have missed the point, though. Look again at your references from Psalms and from John. It was God's intention from the beginning that human beings should be His children...NOT His servants, as so many "Christians" seem to think. God is raising Himself a family.
With that in mind, look again at the events in Eden. (I think the story is more of a parable than a blow-by-blow description of actual events, but the point is the same, in either event.) Evidently, God did intend that His children should have His knowledge of good and evil...but were they ready for it, yet? Look at the world around you...how do we use the knowledge we have? Perhaps, God was not threatening His new children, so much as warning them. Don't get too eager to know all about good and evil, because you are not ready to handle it, and it will kill you.
So why did God chase His new children away from the tree of life, thus sealing their fate? Well, once again, look around you. See what our own greed and selfishness has caused. Hear hungry children, crying for food, when we have more than enough to go around--dying from diseases that could be easily healed or prevented. See homeless people, huddled together for warmth, when there are homes sitting empty, falling apart. Take a walk through poverty stricken neighborhoods, if you dare. If you do it at night, though, make sure your affairs are in order, and kiss your mother goodbye, cuz you may not live till morning. And yet, we have the wealthy, with more money than they can spend in several lifetimes, tossing in their find beds, trying to figure out how to extort even more money and goods from these needy people. Think of the technology we already have that could solve so many of the world's problems...why are we not using it? I think you know the answer to that question, don't you?
Immortality in such a world would be unthinkable, don't you agree?
As for me, I am content that my Father has arranged to eventually rid us of all of these problems...problems, mind, that we brought upon our own selves, with our own foolishness...and give us a new start in a new world without any taint of evil in it. I guess, being His children, we just had to learn the hard way. I don't know of any other way to truly learn wisdom, other than experience. Even God had to experience what it is like to walk as a Man among men...

Yes, you will make a great many people think, and I hope that they will, indeed, read it as it is written. Long instilled ideas are a bit hard to overcome, I know. It took me half a lifetime to rid myself of the horrible vision of people suffering through eternity in "hell"...but once I read it as it was written, I was grateful to discover that hell is nothing but the grave, and like all other evil, death and hell are both bound for the fire. Amen, and Thank You, Jesus!!

I know those verses and it looks like the Serpent wins as Liar above all others.. Adam and Eve died that very day. Spiritual death is man being separated from God. That day they were separated as well as bringing physical death as their eventual fate... I don't see a single lie here on God's part..
