Just wondering how weird you think that is, or would you consider doing it?
It does look really cute.

Dog doesn't seem to notice it.

She had it done at her beauty shop.

She said that her dog was like her child, and she had her daughter's pierced, and she has her own peirced, so what's the difference.

I dunno, I still think it wierd.

Not nearly as painful as ear cropping, tail docking, dew claw removal, spaying....hmmmmm
so many are saying it is cruel.....do you automatically think of ear cropping or tail docking as cruel? lol
does your dog have a docked tail?
Geeesh! what we do to man's best friend.

Just wondering....

While silly in my opinion, it's not cruel. I would not, unless it was for tagging purposes or such. But that's just me.

Ear cropping and tail docking are usually done when the dog is VERY young. I think it is cruel, your friend did this for selfish reasons and thats why its cruel! This is no way benefits the dog, and it probably looks ridiculous. I have never heard of someone doing such a moronic thing. I'm sorry but you should turn your friend in for animal abuse!

Sounds to me like something done for the owner's amusement, rather than the dog.

Yeah, okay, the dog is like a child, and she had her daughter's done, but her daughter (I hope) was involved in the decision, too.

It seems pretty selfish to me. The dog doesn't understand it, she only knows she feels pain and irritation in her ears.

Plus, as someone else pointed out, what about the health ramifications? It would be very easy to get them caught in the carpet or some such thing and rip them out through the edge of the ear, and the potential for infection seems pretty high.

I think it's stupid. Who actually performed this ridiculous procedure? Dogs are not meant to wear clothes, shoes or jewelry. When will bone headed chicks stop feeling the need to rival Paris Hilton by abusing their dogs, treating them as a fashion accessory? I hope that the dog bites the owner, causing piercing of her own!

ps - ok, completely disregard the rant if this is a joke. sorry, too much caffeine today!

I've never even heard of someone getting their cat's ear's pierced, but, I bet it does look cute. Yeah, I might do it if I had a cat that didn't have any hair so it would show. As long as it doesn't bother the cat - I think it would be ok - but I would definitely take them out periodically and have them cleaned with alcohol & wipe the cat's ear's as to keep it clean just like a human would do just to keep it sanitary.

I wouldn't do it, no. But, I wouldn't pierce my daughter's ears, either.

Edit: Chetco... Good point to make! I, myself, choose not to cut my dogs' ears, though many Boston people do. I've only ever had one Boston whose ears did not stand up on their own, and I just left them alone. I do not have their dew claws removed, either. (My dogs actually use theirs to clean their eyes.) And Bostons and Bulldogs are born with short tails, so that's not a worry either. What each person does with their own dogs is their own business, but ear-piercing is not something I would consider for my dogs. *heh*

It may look cute but what if she got in a fight with another dog and it had a hold of her ear and pulled it out.. I got my ears pierced and it hurt for like two weeks

it's cool
think about it, a chinese crested???
the "no hair dog" UGLY!! (so ugly they're cute??)
I had a cat once I thought he'd look awesome with an earring.( I never did it) but I thought about it! like a pirate's cat. lol
the ears are ok, as long as it's an animal that doesn't go outside and it leaves it's ears alone afterword. sure what's wrong with that?? people have their BABIES ears pierced and they have no say!! for pete's sake.

No. That had to be painful for the dog, and wearing the earrings is probably uncomfortable too. The dog doesn't understand why it is suffering and could be under stress because of it.

It's a dog. Why on earth would you do that? I'm surprised Paris Hilton hasn't yet...I'm sorry, but that girl needs something better to do than pierce her dogs ears.

That is weird but if it didn't hurt the dog I would definitely get my Chihuahua's ears pierced.
