I have a question about mental health. Maybe you can help me out, and tell me what kind of mental disorder this might connect with.

My friend recently told me that she is having some weird issues. For one she talks to herself when she is alone, she acts out things, pretends to be other people, ect. She also has flash backs. She had a really tough time in school, and if something reminds her of it. She can't help herself from thinking about it. She says sometimes when she talks that in her mind she'll think of school. Then she'll have to shake her head, or tell herself to stop thinking before the memory will leave her head. Do you think she could have some type of mental disorder? What does this remind you of? She likes to act out things alone. Like what she sees on T.V. She acts like other people. Thanks for the help.

I was also thinking schizophrenia. She's about 17. She isn't out of the loop crazy it's just when she's alone. She's very depressed, and has been on meds but they make her feel weird, I guess. It's just school that sets her off. It's also stupid things she's done in her life. I dunno. Maybe I'll tell her to look up some psychiatrist.

Let me put this again.

She only acts this way when she's alone.

It sounds like your freind may have been traumatized at school and this is how she is dealing with it. I think you have already helped just by listening to her, but I think you can help her further by suggesting she get professional help before things get worse. The good thing is that she is still young

I'm not a doctor but does sound like a mental disorder (Should be taken very seriously). Sounds like could be multiple personality disorder. Get a good doctor and have it checked. She may only need medicine or some other treatment (if it is a mental disorder at all) Mental disorders for so long have been shushed and hidden from the general public therefore people seem to look down on them or be afraid because of the little known about them. There have been so many great breakthroughs in mental disorders recently. Someone in my family has a mental disorder and you would be amazed what a difference a small dose of medicine does to their attitude. I am not one to push drugs on people but believe me it does work when correctly treated by a GOOD doctor. Hope this helps!

She may have a bi-polar disorder or a multipul personality issue. You should speak with a school counsler or if you are close to her parents try speaking with them. Other than that, try going to support groups with her and do your best to help.

There is nothing you can personally do. But you can try to talk her into getting some help.

Has your friend talked to her Dr. about these feelings she has ? Sometimes the medicine could be to strong or not strong enough. I think this would be a good place to start.

Sounds like she might be schizophrenic, or something very traumatizing might have happened to her in school.
