I agree with most people in this forum ... you're never too old.

Women are often cautioned, however, about planning to have children once they reach their late 30s and hit 40 since the chances of giving birth to a child with a genetic anomaly (ex. Down's Syndrome) increases quite dramatically. You can still bear a child if you're willing to accept the risk or can adopt and, of course, you can marry at any age you feel like.

You can never be too old to start a family, go for it! Get married, adopt an "uncle", call yourself "Granny" around the neighbor kids, have a ball!

However, having *kids*, especially birthing brand new babies, is a whole different issue. Children really deserve to have their parents around and healthy during their dependant stage, until about age 25 or so. It sucks to feel like you need to take care of your aging parents anyway, it sucks much, much more if you're still in high school or college when they need you.

Consider adopting older children if you're pushing the limits of fertility. There are LOTS of kids out there who need families and don't have them.

it is a consumer-friendly problem with young women. Fertility is a function of the girls's potential to ovulate potential eggs. you're desirable in understanding that your fertility is dropping from age 27 onwards. It does no longer extremely get undesirable until eventually 35-37 years old. After 40, that is a crapshoot. right here's the point: a 40 5 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old women can carry a fetus to time period with out any complications. in reality, this women is amazingly fertile if she makes use of donor eggs from a young women. the problem is her organic eggs. a guy produces his gamete on the fly. A women's eggs proceed to be a similar for the length of her existence. over the years, they degrade ensuing in infertility. So what does a women do even as waiting for Mr. proper? The clock is ticking and the boys look extra immature in the present day then the day exceeded by. pressure! some women have taken to freezing their eggs at a youthful age. This preserves their fertility in view that cryopreserved eggs do no longer degrade. Egg freezing is one 0.5 of an IVF procedure and could fee $12k. Is it properly worth it? in straight forward words you could make the alternative.

At around 40 years of age in a woman the risk of syndrome such as downs becomes considerably higher than at younger ages (a 2-10% increase in risk each year over 40) and having your first baby over the age of 35 poses increased risk on the mother - again risks increasing each year

so from a physiological standpoint having you first child by 35 and your last child by 40 would represent healthy limits

thats not to say you cant do either later but risks certainly do increase

most women cease to be reproductively capable at between 50 and 65 years of age (menopause)

That is a hard question with people living longer and longer every year. I think if you get beyond 50 right now you should consider not starting a family and having kids. It just seems a bit unfair for kids to grow up in an environment where their parents are likely to die before they get out of high school.

If you want children of your own i'd say 35-40 but if you are gonna adopt you are never too old. Except if you start a family when you're like 60 you probably won't live to see your kids have families of their own, and that's really sad...

you are never too old just make sure if you are thinking of having a baby you are in the best of health and consult your doctor. But a family is a blessing there is no age limit on marriage nor having kids, unless your body does not want to do it!
