Oh, I wish there was an answer for this. We have a neighbor with three big dogs shoved in a small kennel. The one barks, while the other two husky-mixes howl. They do it every night, every morning, and often during the day. They've been reported a hundred times. The city council has been after them to get rid of them. The neighbors have all tried asking politely, sternly telling, and even threateningthese people. The most they've ever done is to put the dogs in their basement for three days so the local police department would think they were gone.
Oh, talk about frustration. And on top of it, they have another dog in the house (a Chow, no insult intended towards Chow people...) that has gotten loose and bitten several people already. They've been to court over it a few times, but somehow they still have the dog.
Those poor outside dogs are only bored and lonely, and that isn't their fault. The people are just completely neglectful. There nothing else we can do but sit and listen to these dogs howl and bark and hope the Chow doesn't get out and bite our kids...
It would be nice if someone could pin them with neglect and have them all taken away to the nearest shelter. (About 40 miles from here.) But, it's been going on for three years, and still no changes. I hope your situation goes better than ours...
Good luck!

I would politely speak to the neighbor about the situation if it affects your life in a negative way. Also determine why it is barking. Is it barking because the neighbor is ignoring it and leaving it outside so it is not a bother to him. Then that is the neighbors fault. Or does the dog bark, like mine, because they are territorial. Which means...they bark for a very good reason and that reason is, that there is something very unfamiliar in it's area and is alerting it's people of the unfamiliar thing. But does the neighbor address this issue. I tell mine "Thank You" and check it out and ask them to be quiet and they do. So determine if it something you neighbor is actually taking care of...or if the dog is just a barker and discuss it politely with the neighbor.

Unfortunately you cant do too much about this! The dog has the right to run around and bark all he wants. If it is happening late at night or early in the AM just politely tell your neighbor "hey i work mornings and your dog is keeping me up at night" or vice versa. Consider talking about it with another neighbor first, if you go over as a pair or in a group it will be more effective probably if the owner sees their dog is really a nuisance. IF they leave the dog unattended frequently threaten to call Animal control and that might be effective (consider it as a last resort though). Good luck, I have a crappy neighbor too!

Try talking to your neighbor very calmly and just let him or her know that this bothers you. Yes, it can be extremely annoying. Maybe suggest that he get a bark collar for the dog. Sometimes animal control will speak to the people and also maybe you could check to see if there are any noise bylaws in your community. Good Luck.

Of course!! Tell neighbor if he don't shut the dog up you'll shut it up for him and call the cops. It's his choice. Either that buy your neighbor a muzzle for the dog a a hint and tell him to put it on the dog.

it rather is stressful. yet i might say you will in all probability merely ought to smile and bear it. I hate it whilst any of my pals' canines start to bark or howl, because of the fact it in lots of situations instruments off the different canines contained regionally. And meaning a minimum of 30 minutes of unbridled racket. Come to think of of it, am i able to borrow your gun as quickly as you have dealt with the concern?

Just ask the neighbor if their is anything they can do to keep the dog more quiet. Explain that it's affecting your sleep, rest, etc.

I use to have the same experienc, the best thing is to make frends with it. It probably is lonely or scared so making friends with it is the best thing to do because once you make frends with them im sure he will stop barking.

Ask them nicely, and if they don't comply or make an effort, call the police.
