I brought my car into the dealership the day after the car stalled on the freeway (car pool lane) and I was given a quote for the repair that needed to be performed. I found a recall campaign from nhtsa.gov that stated the same symptoms my car had gone through under the same year, make, and model. Now the dealership AND the manufacturer are both not able to assist me regarding the recall and is looking to give me a financial assistance instead. Consumers are not supposed to pay for the recall to be performed. BUT my VIN is not part of the recall. Is there such documentation that states this? If your car's VIN is not part of the recall although it is the same year, make, model & symptoms - recall cannot be performed? Please help... I am going through so much with the dealership and the manufacturer but I'm not going anywhere since they are both not able to OKAY the recall to be performed. Today is the 9th day that my car is still with the dealership. PLEASE.. PLEASE.. PLEASE HELP!!

Thank you so much Jennifer!!! I'd like to share to everyone that I finally got a phone call back from the manufacturer. The dealership denied giving me the inspection & quote they gave me 9 days ago and re-ran the test! So, results proved I am qualified for the recall and they have given the approval to get it done free of charge! YAY!!! All I have to do is sign the paperwork. To all of you, do not let these dealers charge/overcharge you for something that you shouldn't have to pay for... Do your homework! It was what I have done! Thanks again...

As you stated above, you can obviously have the repairs done, but you won't necessarily get them done for free. Automaker is not required to perform the repairs for free to anyone who can present a vehicle with the same symptoms.
You can always document the problem, repair costs, and the recall notice and then appeal to the manufacturer's district office to have the repairs you make covered by them. Sounds like you should have the repair doen regardless, so why keep your car in limbo while you try to sort this out?
