If we were to bring back Jesus right here and now, I would agree with everything he says. If we brougth back Joseph Smith, would you agree with EVERYTHING that he preaches? How could you follow someone who used to believe blacks were cursed and practiced polygamy? Shouldn't the founder of your faith be totally innocent of anything questionable? Please don't be offended. My best friend in mormon and I love her and her family. I am just curious about these answers. Thank you so much :)

About Jonah and david etc. being prophets who made mistakes, they didn't break off and start their own religion. Do you see the difference between them and Joseph Smith?

As I read your question it seemed the heart of it was wondering if Joseph Smith should be innocent of anything "unquestionable". So my question to you would be unquestionable to whom? The basis of our belief is that Joseph Smith was called of God as the early prophets were. He therefore did as he was commanded, just as Moses or Abraham did. Moses was commanded to kill all the inhabitants of the promised land. Abraham was a polygamist. The Bible teaches of the mark of Cain. So if you believe the Bible is the word of God then you also believe those things.
The question you ultimately must ask at some point is, did God come to Joseph Smith and call him as he did other prophets. And there is only one place you can go and get an infallible answer, and that is God Himself. If you pray with a sincere desire for the truth He has promised each of us an answer. (James 1:5)
Good luck in your search. And some of my best friends are Mormons too.

These people tell you they know the Church is true cause they prayed about it and felt something. Hmmmm.

I was with a group of people telling me to roll a house once with toilet paper, I wasn't sure but after they said do it you will feel good. So I threw my toilet paper and they all cheered and patted me on the back and said see we told you it was great. Then I thought man, this is great. It has to be the funnest thing I have ever done.

Point is feeling accepted is a great thing no matter what it is. Once I threw the toilet paper I was emerged in things to plan for the next house, so my mind was always on it and involved with the next house, so when I threw it the next time I felt I had a big deal in the whole process. So now I am fully emerged in rolling houses. Before long I have invested to much time and money into my toilet paper friends that I would feel awful to leave them so I stay even though I may question if it is right or wrong. Because everyone is telling me how great I am doing and how much they love me. I stay as to not to hurt people that I am close friends with.

Didn't answer your question but I said my piece anyway thanks.

You forgeting a few very important things.

1) Jesus was infallible and perfect. perfectly in tune with God's Spirit and purpose. Therefore, he does not make mistakes.

2) Joseph Smith was not. He was a human being, just like you, me and everyone else on this planet. He made mistakes.

3) Many prophets in the Bible made mistakes. Jonah disobeyed God's comands to go to Ninevah. David killed his neighbor then slept with his wife. Moses' brother Aaron let the Jews build the golden calf. I could go on, but you get the picture.

Before making generalizations about people's beliefs and teachings, do a little research.

The only person I would totally agree with is Jesus. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, but he was just a man, and man is fallible.

The LDS do not believe that prophets and apostles are incapable of error, despite being called of God and receiving revelation. Joseph Smith himself taught that ‘a prophet was a prophet only when he was acting as such’.[1] (http://fairwiki.org/index.php/General_authorities%27_statements_as_scripture#endnote_js1) The Church has always taught that its leaders are human and subject to failings as are all mortals. Only Jesus was perfect:

The position is not assumed that the men of the New Dispensation —its prophets, apostles, presidencies, and other leaders—are without faults or infallible, rather they are treated as men of like passions with their fellow men."[2] (http://fairwiki.org/index.php/General_authorities%27_statements_as_scripture#endnote_clark1)

Yes, if the spirit bore witness to me that it was true. I had to pray to really know if the gospel was true and I received my own personal witness that it is the only true church on the earth. He would have to be questioned, there are no zombie's, that's where faith comes in...it does not scare me at all for people to question it, that is their right. Questions also bring on answers, answers that you can only get from being sincere and having faith in Christ. SO I don't think it's a bad thing for people to question it. Does it make me sad that there is so much false information out there? Yes.

The darkened skin is only a mark, it turns out that it's hereditary. to see if the curse is there firstly you have to know the truth. then you can tell by their eyes. As for polygamy, the lord told him to, he was only being obedient. I follow him because the church is true. people look at the tiny details, but I'm looking at the whole picture, and it's beautiful!!

First of all, we never beleived that the blacks were cursed.

Of course we would beleive everything he says. According to our beleif, it wasn't Joseph's idea to practice polygamy (witch we don't do anymore), it was Jesus's idea, ok? Jesus told joseph to tell the rest they could do that, i forgot why, though.
