Therapy- but more specifically Cognative Therapy.>Cognative therapy is where they help you with breathing, thinking, calming excercises, etc.
Panic attacks can be more common with people who might have a tendency to be a bit more anxious. You may suffer from anxiety to begin with and may be unaware of it. Therefore, your panic attacks can be onset due to your anxiety,
Breathing and introducing a new thought pattern is absolutely the answer. Pills offer a band aid without ever changing the root of the problem.

What I did was when a panick attack struck I would simply say to myself 'I'm not giving you head room,' and carry on shopping etc.
Another thing I would do is when I felt an attack start, look at the clock and time how long it took. The intensest feelings would always be over in about 15 mins, usually within a much shorter time.
Then the next time I had an attack I could look at the clock and say 'In less than 15 mins, this will be over.'
I also saw a counsellor.
I've had no attacks for nearly 2 years. That's going from having at least one a day and having to take valium every day.
Good luck!

Without medicine? I'm not sure, I've heard it is possible though. I had to be put on two different medications for anxiety disorder because it was so sudden and so severe. I've been on one for two months and another for less than a month, medication has made my go away completly almost, except for a few syptoms...so medicine is the best way to go but it depends on your chemical make-up.
Talk also helps me, wether talking to friends or family members or even a therapist. Try seeking aid from a close friend or family member first, if they don't understand I'd highly recommend consouleing with a therapist. They can really help they've done wonders with my dad who suffered from severe depression and anxiety disorder, and now he's almost completly healed...

Xanax check it out. Alprazolam. It is in slow release now so you won't be as drowsy. Biofeedback is a must. Check your bllod pressure too. Acupuncture is a must. All natural diet- no stimulants like too much coffee, MSG, and cut back on the oil and fat- it heats up the body. Take cold showers. Go swim in the ocean if you can for an hour or so- the salt water cleans out the body. I put out a special relaxation tape for panic / anxiety / test anxiety.
