That would be sad. Thankfully there is a God!

I don't think that's true. I certainly don't believe in GOD, per se, as the "White Dude Sitting in The Sky Who Hates Gays, Votes Republican, And Tells People In The South Exactly What To Say & Think."
But that doesn't mean I don't think there's anythink funky going on. I think the universe is more complex than our puny minds can ever grasp. Basically, we have no idea what's REALLY GOING ON.
Science, while it's useful, can only give us the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to the nature of the universe. I think that human beings are connected to each other & nature in ways we'll never understand. Perhaps when we die, we join some sort of Universal Energy. Life is certainly not pointless if you can help another person, or make the world a better place. True wisdom comes from admitting that we don't really have the answers (which is why most religions suck so much, as they claim to have all the answers in a very pat & unconvincing manner).
I'd say, just wait 'til you die. Something cool could happen! And if nothing happens, you won't exactly be disapointed. Try to have fun for the time being! Eat some ice cream, get a sloppy blow.job, listen to some groovy music, help out that old lady who lives next door! (But not all at the same time!)

religious anybody is religious because of the fact they're the two extraordinarily terrified of having no meaning or extraordinarily terrified of looking out that something that has been a think approximately their lives in view that they are in a position to keep in mind is a lie. they want there to be a God. that's why they argue so religiously (pun!) with regard to the concern. Atheists tend to comprehend the numerous undesirable effects of religion on society whilst they advance into atheists and argue religiously over it in obscure hopes of attempting to make the international a better place. That or they're merely boastful. the two way they're in all probability good, yet that's beside the factor. Now, i'm a stay and permit stay man or woman, and picture that anybody must be waiting to coach regardless of faith they want (or none in any respect). even however, the communicate is on no account going to stop because of the religious peoples' theory that what they think of is what anybody ought to think of and the non-religious peoples' theory that they ought to no longer as nicely to the two communities feeling like quite a few different crew ought to come to their respective aspects... it rather is all ridiculous rather. people ought to start minding their very own business enterprise.

Assuming God does not exist, the fact remains that we do. It is reasonable then to assume that since God has nothing to do with life, God has nothing to do with after-life. Thus, as life exists independently of God, so may after-life. Life is not arbitrary, simply because there is no God. No one can tell you how your personal spirituality or perception of morality will affect your after-life, but it will. It's an observable and blatant universal pattern that everything eventually changes into something else, and 'into what' has everything to do with its state at the time of decomposition. It would be ignorant to think that whatever it is allowing you consciousness would behave any differently when you die. In other words, the condition of your "soul" when you die will have everything to do with what happens to you when you die. Of course, that's just my take on the idea.

there's a whole Philosophy about that. It's name eludes me at the moment. To answer the question,if there is no God and life has no meaning, then what is the point? Random atoms. The God thing has taken on so much responsibility, what with all the cultures believing one thing or another, what we cannot ignore is creation.
In other words divine influence..Order from chaos, man made rules 10 of them to be exact, to help man create order in this life. Then there's also my fathers reasoning, the just in case clause.
just read Sara W. a fine piece of Christian attitude. My compliments.

Death isn't tragic. Life would have little meaning if we didn't die. The point is to realize how little time we actually have and to make the most of it. That's true whether god does or doesn't exist.

I find you reasoning worthy.
I noticed something interesting...
Often, when people do meaningful things rather than the other way around... They often have a feeling of gratitude and this feeling of love and appreciation is often then identified as something so great that they have to recognize it is given by God.
It is not so much in terms of beleiving in God as much as finding a word that can best describe this feeling of generosity and abondance that dwells within the heart.
Somehow it doesn't matter to me wether God exist or not. I know however that Loves have a way of unfolding the most admirable aspect in the human behavior and intentions.

It's no less pointless than believing in the Christian faith, for example. Either way, what you do here "doesn't matter", because all of the worldly things will not go to heaven with you anyway.
You see, the Christian faith teaches that all the good stuff comes after you die. Personally, I don't see why anyone would want to continue living here on earth, if they truly believed heaven was so wonderful. Why do so many people not want to die, if they're going to heaven? Seems rather silly, doesn't it?
But the reason people don't want to die is because we instinctually want to live. Atheists understand this. And unlike the theists, who place all their hopes on a fantasyland that they will go to after they die... atheists make THIS life count.
We attempt to create our best version of heaven, here on earth, by striving to find the solutions to problems, diseases, wars, negative emotions, etc. We strive to find enlightenment and peace in this world, and we live for the moment.
So... why bother, you ask? Because life is a journey, not a destination.

Are you Christan? Cause I'm Presbyterian and I think that God does exist.
I think that God wants you to experience a life and see what it's like. You're right, when you're dead you're dead.

oh please, of course life has meaning - it has the meaning you give it when you're alive. I think a more appropriate view is that if there is no god, then death has no meaning. I don't believe in God, and my life is full of meaning and has great value. When i'm dead, you're right, i'm dead. But thats my death, not my life.
