Hi, as a life long resident of Beautiful British Columbia I can tell you, it's not called "the" Beautiful BC, no "the" in the title, just Beautiful British Columbia. It's our provincial slogan, the province name is just British Columbia, the Beautiful was added about 25 years ago and if you've ever been here you'll know why the word beautiful was chosen. High mountain peaks, more lakes & rivers then you can imagine, we have rain forest (west Coast), desert (Okanagan area), and everything in between. Too many things to list here. I guess we're known for being polite, I have heard that, and as far as locking our doors, well I live in a city of about 80,000 and I do forget to lock my doors at night more often then not. I've also forgot my keys in the car 3 times, once for 2 days and nothing has happened. Most people do lock their doors at night, but certainly not during the day. The mountain range is the Monashee mountains. It is located between the Columbia river and the Okanagan-North Thompson river. It stretches from Valelmount to across the US border. The mountain range was named by a Scottish prospector meaning peaceful mountain. A popular mountain located in Kelowna is Big White Ski resort.
If there are people that haven't been to see BC's beautiful mountains its a sight to see. Good luck on your adventures.

There is an alpine skiing resort nearby called the Big White Ski Resort. It is in the Canadian Rockies. This resort has won numerous Ski Canada awards.
