Nuva ring is a form of birth control that works by delivering hormones through the skin. These hormones effect all women differently, but have been known to cause spotting, mood swings, cramps, bloating and weight gain. If these side effects are too much for your friend I would suggest switching birth control methods. Each prescription uses slightly different hormones that might not effect your friend in the same way and thus work better for her. I would suggest she speak to her doctors about trying a different brand.

I also use the Nuva Ring and I feel like it is a wonderful method because you don't have to remember to take a pill every day. I was also told by my doctor that it can alleviate such hardships that other methods of BC can cause such as moodiness or period problems because it doses the patient with a consistent amount of hormones at all times, unlike the pill where you can go up and down. I would give the nuva ring at least 3 months, but if the mood swings stick around, I would talk to the doc.

There has been lots of reports, that the Nuva ring could be harmful to your health. Look it up on, or check with the "general surgeons". It sounds like she is getting way too many hormones. Don't let her waste any time. The last report I heard of was in NY and the young woman was getting on a bus or something, and had a heart attack and died. Tell her to please check this info out, "SOON"!!!

I totally understand. I'm having the same problem with my poor boyfriend. He is having to deal with my hormone change since I started birth control 2 weeks ago. It will go away. She body has to adapt to it. It is very normal. Give a little space don't overwhelm her. My boyfriend is suffocating me on top of all these crazy feelings I could choke him. If it does not get better. She might have to try a different birth control.

She needs to let her doctor know, that happened to me when i got on birth control for the first time, we switched to a different kind and it helped.

Its the hormones, the nuva ring probably is not the best choice of BC for her.

Some females when on the birth control pill have different reactions to the amounts of hormones. The mood swings are normal but if they continue for more more than 2 weeks or are seriously affecting everyday life, she should see her OB to maybe try another pill with lower levels!

This is a hormonal type of birth control and some women are super-sensitive to it. I know a lot of women that have problems on all types of hormonal birth control ranging from weight gain to having severe rage problems. She needs to speak with her doctor about possibly switching to a low dose birth-control pill or you may have to use condoms instead.

I would have to ask how old she is? If she is young i would say this is probably hormonal or due to her menses cycle. But i would probably call the physician that prescribed the nuva ring and speak to him about this.

yes because the nuva ring releases hormones and who knows the timing of the release.....but when messing with a womans hormones......you try not to do it....but just be supportive and console her ....she will love you more for it...if you really cant stand it, try a lower dose of birth control

The hormones in the ring may be to strong for her and it is sending her on an emotional roller coaster that she has no control over, she really needs to see her doctor because right now it may be just crying, but next it maybe violence or anger.. Please encourage her to speak with her doctor!!
