Organic matter (plants and animals) died and got buried in a shallow sea. The organic material accumulated to great thicknesses as it got buried. Over time some of these basin in which organic material was deposited accumulated thousands of feet of sand, shale and limestone along with the organic material. With burial come pressure from the overlying sediments and heat from the earth (decaying matter, radioactive decay). The organic layers decomposed and changed to coal and with greater depth and pressure to oil and eventual to natural gas. The oil which is lighter than water flows through the pore spaces of the sandstone or in fractures in other rocks to accumulate in domes, along fault structures, or in alluvial sediments (river sand deposits). A typical oil well can only extract 10 to 25 percent of the oil - the rest stays in the ground due to friction along the pore spaces and other factors. Secondary methods using gases or soap type material helps recover more, but never the majority.

the ground oil comes from many places scientists clam that oil comes from dinosaurs most of the oil is in the middle east , which is in the desert dinosaurs couldn't have lived in the desert therefore the scientists are wrong and the oil must have came from somewhere else the oil must have come from god and god put the oil here because he knew we'd need it and he isn't going to let us run out of it.

All these answers here is wrong, its bascially crude oil that is found in the ground, how is if found is like this:
animals and plants (includinh humans) who are die and are buried in the ground (most animals arn't buried in the ground, after they did they eventually get eaten by bacteria and become a part of the earth), after millions of years, these animals and plants (after they decomposed) it turns to crude oil...

Now to get gas that the car uses, the cooking oil and other different oils like diesel, kerosine, etc...
YOu heat crude oil to a certain degree to get each one of these things.. All these oils have different heating temperatures for them to produce.

Other oils like Ethanol, comes from corn, etc..
Propane is a three-carbon alkane. It is derived from other petroleum products during oil or natural gas processing. It is commonly used as a heat source for engines, barbecues, and homes. Its name was derived from propionic acid.

Common misconception is that oil is a fossil fuel. It is actually like water and has been here since the beginning. So, to answer your question I would ask, where does water, earth and sky come from?

Drill approximately an 8" diameter hole about 5,000-20,000 feet deep to start. Oil is held in pockets typically surrounded by limestone deposits. They don't even have to pump it out usually because the pressures at that depth are in the 15,000-25,000 psi range. Once they hit it out it comes which is why you get the gushers.

oil vomes from the dead matter of ancient plants and animals that has been under pressure for millions of years. The process is very similar to the synthesis of diamonds

it comes from rock deposits hidden in the earth. It runs like rivers through the rock formations. You have to drill deep for it and it is hard to find. Some people say that it is old dinosaur remains, but others argue that is really plant remains and does not take thousands of years to create.
