I know it's a disgusting question, and I apologise, but I just went to the toilet and my feces had a lot of blood in it. I checked, and it wasn't my period, so I've ruled that out... It's too early to go to the doctor...
The only other symptom I have is a very sore stomach prior to going to the toilet, which has gone away now.

By "it's too early to go to the doctor", I mean it's actually too early. The doctor's would not be open, plus I have no way of getting there due to my mum still being asleep.

It's true that blood in the stool can be fairly serious. One thing to consider is that color of the blood. If it's bright red blood, like what you'd expect from a cut then it's not coming from your stomach or even intestine. Most brightly colored blood in the stool comes from a hemroid or lesion located very close to the anus. The further in the problem, the darker the blood. For the most part you probably have a lesion or something, but remeber that is it important to notify your doctor, depending on your age and risk factors, it might be time to have a colonoscopy to check for cysts or cancer.

Sometimes it just happens, so don't stress out because that is the last thing you want to do right now. It could be just a strange occurrence from something weird you are or you my have a very common and non life threatening illness like ulcerative colitis, which is a manageable condition where you have bad stomach cramps and ect. Keep tabs on your condition and if you are still having problems tomorrow morning make an apt w/ your doctor.

That sounds like a possible case of pancreatis. It could also be an ulcer in the intestinal tract. Has she gotten into any really fatty foods lately? Either way it's a good thing you are going to the vet, it's the only way to help her. Just wanted to throw out some possibilities of what it could be. Whoops! Sorry, vet intern is correct and I was thinking of Colitis and not pancreatis.

Bright red blood in your stool can be so many things.
The one thing to know is it is in the distal colon because it is red not a black tarry stool.
It could be a bleeding internal hemmorhoid.
You could have proctitis or inflammation and bleeding of the rectum.
You could have been very constipated and forced a stool out making your anus bleed.
Try not to worry for now unless you do it again right away or become faint and sweaty. Then go to the ER and tell them what is going on.

There are many different things this could be. anything from inflammatory bowel disease (are you in your 20s??) to food poisoning to colonic polyp syndrome. Since you say it was associated with pain and then resolved, it fits more of a colon problem, maybe an inflammatory diease or infection or an irritable bowel syndrome. go see your doc...talking you about your family history, your history and so on can pin point the cause or direct an examination.

if the blood is red its less serious, if the blood looks like coffee grinds then u have a more serious problem, if a movement causes pain, most likely an anal fissure or hemmorhoid. women are less likely to get colon cancer especially under age 50. if it cont get it checked.

If you are young (which I am assuming because you mention your mum) it is not likely to be bowel cancer. But it is not normal.
You need to go to a doctor ASAP. Wake your mum up and go to the local hospital if need be.
