Because people like picking on others for something they themselves do wrong. It makes them feel superior when they know they're really not.

Because they have nothing to say about the topic so they nit pick about the spelling. It makes them feel better about themselves.
I personally don't care too much about spelling as long as the sentence structure is readable, but I have to add that the spell checker is just to the top right of the box that you type in and its easy to click it and make sure words are spelled correctly, I use it every time. It's only about 15 seconds of your life (if even that long), unless you have misspelled many words.....
But, Mum, I thought the same thing, that you couldn't check when writing a question, that's not true, there is a spell checker for questions. Its right above the "Enter Your Question" box, not the "Add Details (Optional)" Box. It works for everything you typed into that page.
******
See what happens when you read something very fast, you realize later that you totally misinterpreted what was said. Mum, you are correct, you cannot edit a question. BUT you most certainly delete it and re ask it if you want......

OK, OK, I confess!! I'm a grammar and spelling nitpicker. Weak use of language does nip my balls. I've never picked anyone up here for bad use of either, because this is Y!A and it doesn't really matter. But in business it does, and in art it does. Errors on a CV or in a report make me want to bin it. Art requires access to all of the subtleties (sp?) of the language you're communicating in, and if you don't have a grasp of those, it's like you're painting with too fat a brush or without watching what you're doing. Even Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting - not exactly Jane Austen) knows that. Like Les Dawson playing the piano - for those who know what that sounds like - even to parody something you have to know how to do it right first.
For a meeting, wear a suit and tie.
For a party, dress up nice.
On a lazy Sunday, wear what you like.
Same with language.
(That last sentence wasn't a sentence, just a hanging clause with no verb - how dare I!)
PS I make mistakes too.

Because I went to school for many years learning how to spell etc, and then when I left I found that no-one in the real world could give a flying f***. But this isn't the real world, so I go around being all self-impotent. I mean important.

I get annoyed with wrong spellings, but I've started getting used to it a little more now, because of all the different reasons why people might not spell very well.

I am not sure but I do not like it! English is not the easiest language to learn and the spelling is much harder than many other languages! They need to get that bug out of there butts! They are not perfect no one is so they should stop it!

I don't think it's too much to expect the "asker" to use correct spelling and grammar so the rest of us can read and understand the question being asked.

Some people ARE smarter than others. There is really no need to get a complex about this. Bend with it, come back with a smile. This could be a learning process, but don't turn it into a childish clash of ego.
Whoa! I've just realised what this whole process is about - EGO's.
(yawns)
Can we talk about something else, please?

Because some people think they are smarter than others and glory in other people's mistakes. It's a form of egotism.

Because there is a spell check button...and it makes us feel better than that person even if we aren't.
