Honestly, thats the funniest thing i've ever heard of in my life. I've been a mormon my entire life, and we have no "secret passwords" or "handshakes". I would know, i've been to the temple many times. Granted, if i wasn't mormon, and I heard about some of the things we do, i would be confused. The main things that go on in the temple are;
1- Marriages and sealings. we believe that when a man and woman go through the temple to get married, they are sealed together for time and all eternity. This is a big deal for us. Thats why it's done in the sacred temple. They do hold hands over an alter, but it's just like a couple holding hands while they are saying their vows.
2- Baptisms for the dead. This is actually really fun. Me and my friends go about once a week. and it's not satanic, they did it in the bible. we just are baptized in someone elses name, someone who didn't have the chance to recieve the gospel while they were on earth. This is also a big deal to us. it allows us to be together with out entire family forever.
I hope this helped, honestly we're not that weird, and our temples are absolutelly gorgeous. Maybe you should talk to your best friend, and see what she was to say.

We learn signs and tokens in the temple that will enable us to pass by the sentinels (angels) and come into the presence of the Lord. They aren't weird or scary, they are sacred. Are there no other religions that have symbols or signs, what about the sign of the cross or things like that? Who says they are closely related, have you personally experienced them or have you just heard that or read that on some anti-mormon site... If you want to know what goes on there, become a member, get worthy and experience it for yourself. It is wonderful and a great blessing!

Have you considered the possibility that satanic rituals are crude imitations of the wonderful and beautiful things that occurred in temples long before there were any satanic rituals?
What do you know about satanic rituals, and how did you learn it? Should you trust such sources of information?

Latter-day Saints believe the endowment to be a revealed restoration of an ancient temple ceremony. Temple ordinances are part of the gospel of Jesus Christ and were revealed to Adam and each prophet to whom the priesthood was given, including the Apostle Peter, and in modern times, Joseph Smith. Resemblances between Freemasonry and the endowment are limited to a small proportion of actions and words, and even where the two rituals share symbolism, the meaning is different. In Freemasonry, all promises are made between members; there is testing, grading, and penalizing of members; members seek rank and promotion; and God is believed to be undefined and impersonal. In contrast, everything in the LDS endowment emanates from or is directed to a personal God who is man's eternal father; all covenants or promises are made between the individual and God; covenants are tied to Jesus Christ and eternal blessings; there are no promotions—all stand equal before God; the endowment emphasizes priesthood and salvation for the dead through vicarious performances of temple ordinances; women participate in all aspects of the temple rites; and temple rites unite husbands and wives and their children in eternal families. Latter-day Saints see their temple ordinances as fundamentally different from Masonic and other rituals.

I don't know about Satanic but they do almost resemble masonic ceremonies word for word... Funny how J.S. had this revelation after he became a mason....... OH and the temple ceremonies have change many times over the years, good thing God is the same and never changes his mind or a open minded free thinker would wonder why there are so many changes to gods laws.

i think it's... more cult structured, all their rituals are uncovered slowly like the peeling of an onion until your some deep into the layers you cannot escape, same goes for scientology.
