Why do most people not know how to spell Vietnam correctly? It really bugs me.

It's called the American School System. And if misspelling Vietnam is your biggest pet peeve, you really need to get out more :)

They have never been there and the spelling is the result of public
schooling and uneducated teachers.

I am really bothered by the overuse of superlatives and other descriptive words which are inaccurate like: always, never, best, greatest, worst, every, and MOST.
