Right.
"Chosen" means that Jews have more responsibility in the world than non-Jews, that is, to perform all the commandants.
While gentiles are only required to uphold the 7 commandments of the covenant God made with Noah (the Noahide Laws).

The Jews are and arent the chosen people.
They were chosen as the people of whom the messiah would come out of( Jesus).
Also God made a covenant with the father of the Jews( Abraham), that stated his decendant would outnumber the stars (not literal, but that he would have many, many decendants(millions if not billions), also that his decendant would one day have all the land before him( a good percentage of the middle east including where Israel is now)
Also when the Jews follow Gods word, they would be blessed.( that is part of the reason the Jews temple, etc fell, it was because they did not follow Gods word in Jesus.
However that does not mean God only helps or loves the Jews, God loves all people equally, he just made a covenant(deal) with the father of the Jews and he will not lie and go back on his promise.
God Bless

The letter "J" is only 500 years old. Jews cannot be who the Bible is referring to as the chosen. Furthermore, current so-called "Jews" are NOT the original Hebrews. Current "Jews" are some european people who migrated in and stole a birth right. Please tie in geography and history to your analysis of scripture.
Lastly, the Bible states that the chosen will be taken to a strange land and will be in bondage for 400 years. No "Jew" in the history of the world fits this description. If the so-called jews were ever in bondage in Egypt (doubted by numerous scholars) it certainly wasn't anywhere near 400 years.
As far as this particular scripture is concerned, Black africans were brought to the Americas and enslaved for 400 yrs (1555-1955). We know that the Emancipation Proclamation did not "free" them after the Civil War. The "Black Codes" kept them in slave status.
Anyway, good luck.

The Bible says that the Jewish people are God's Chosen, so it can be interperated many other ways, yet to my understanding, they are the first people of God, therefore the Jewish scholar would be right in what he says, yet the favoritism that God has, we cannot comprehend, therefore in loving us the way he does it is equal. Yet the only true answer to that question can come from God alone. Hope I helped somewhat?

You must look at two different things, first the Jew unless he is Messianic( which is a born again Jew) still only goes by the old Testaments, what he is saying was true in Old Testaments times.
Now when Jesus Christ The Messiah was raised from the dead. the Jews rejected Him as being Yeshua( Messiah) so in the Book of act you can read about Saul (later named Paul) by the Jesus, Paul was sent to the gentiles not Jews and you can study how the Word of God tells us we were adopted into the family of God Through the Blood of Jesus when we repent of our sin and invite Jesus into our heart, At the time of Paul's and other disciples ministries God gave them the authority to go to the gentiles and teach The Word healing the sick, casting out devils, raising the dead, in Jesus name.
I hope this answered you question.

I am not a scholar but Yes that is correct from the Jewish scholar. See Romans chapters 10 and 11. Through the Jews the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ came to the Gentiles. They are the keepers of God's laws and entrusted to spread the message of Jesus as well. Preaching of the Gospel to the Gentiles(non-jews) came through Paul and other apostles choosen by God to preach to us. But in no way does that mean that they are bypassed because of their unbelief in Jesus Christ. See Romans 11(Whole Chapter) As a believers, we have been grafted into the jewish family because of our belief in the One True Messiah, Jesus Christ.

The phrase as I know is that Jews are God's chosen people. As for spreading the word of God, that wouldn't apply to us, as Judaism isn't a missionary religion. (I probably don't qualify as a scholar.)

It can get confusing in the wording. The Jewish people are God's chosen people. Not Chosen people to spread the word, but chosen people. God's expects all believers in him to spread the word. They are God's chosen people because of the covenant that God made with Abraham. Ironically, they do not believe Jesus is the Son of God, or the Savior. So, in essence they have rejected the son of God, so why would they remain his chosen people? Because of his covenant with Abraham. God will honor his promise.
It's all very deep and very confusing.
