I did some pretty drastic without really thinking it thru and died my light brown hair a deep reddish brown. I thought it looked alright last night mostly because I only saw it really when it was wet...So now Im thinking it is horrible...You think I should strip my hair and get a light brown or just get a little darker brown to maybe get some of the red out? Thanks so much

eek! i have a really good friend and we "experimented" with her hair one summer with similar results.
first, get a really deep hydrating, creamy conditioner. (thermasilk is pretty good.)
wash your hair a few times, conditioning each time to try and fade the red. reds wash out so easily ... and you might be happy with the muted color you get after a few washings.
we tried to strip her hair after we dyed it red - it ended up pumpkin orange!!! so don't do that ... because stripping fries your hair so much, you can't really dye it too much after that without it all falling out - and then you look like a frizzy pumpkin - not attractive!!
i would wash it several times in the next 24 hours before the color sets all the way. even if you hate it, leave it alone for a few days to let your hair rest (pull out that hat collection!! :D) and then if you still hate it, dye it a nice chocolate brown.
it's summertime, it will continue to lighten in the sun and as the dye fades over the next several months, and then it will be back to normal!!
good luck!! (and don't feel too badly, one time i went to a salon to get my eyebrows waxed and the lady must have misunderstood me because dyed my EYEBROWS dark brown!! i am a blonde ... so i was totally upset, it looked like 2 big caterpillars on my face ... but it grew back fine. so it's all good!! :)

Wait and see if it fades. Red fades quickly. Then you can start dying it darker brown and slowly work you're way back to light brown.
The easiest and most efficient solution is to consult a professional hair dresser though. Stripping your hair and then re-dying it (especially all in the same week) can absolutely KILL your hair. You're not supposed to do anything with chemicals more than once every 2 or 3 weeks (preferrably only once a month or less). Be REALLY really careful with bleaches and other strippers. They've been known to fry your hair. Especially if it's already weak and brittle from the dye. As bad as you might think it looks this color, it will look worse frizzy and falling out. So at least go TALK to a hairdresser. Say you're curious about their prices and what type of things they would reccomend doing. Then say you're going to go get money from your house or your mom or something, then don't go back. lol! Just follow their advice carefully.

U need to be careful mixing hair dyes because of Metallics and blue bases...The best thing to do is leave it alone for a few days and wash it alot to take some of the color out, then go to ur local beauty supply and get a hair stripper or ask about a red out (red out should take the red out or calm it down).Gray Busters Medium Brown worked on my hair when I thought I wanted Fire Engine Red Hair looked good wet but once it dried it was way too bright so I had to use a Gray Busters Medium Brown.I hope this helps u out

Red is the hardest to get out of hair. you can bleach it then put brown on it. But you need to wait a little bit before you do. Too many chemicals and your hair will break off or fall out. I would, for at least the next week, condition it. The best way is to put conditioner on it and wrap your head with a warm moist towel for about thirty minutes. When you strip your hair, make sure you do a patch test first, to see if your hair can stand it. Also when you buy the hair color, don't get anything that says, warm, or deep. Those will have red in them.

If you can afford it, your best bet would be to go to a hairdresser, because you are at great risk of damaging your hair if you just keep messing with it. Hairdresses also have access to products you can't buy in the drugstore. If you can't live with what you've done, this is the time to call in a professional. A good hairdresser has had experience with fixing this kind of mistake.

Honestly, I would have it professionally died to the color you want, Store bought dyes are so harsh on your hair and never last as long as they say it will.

There is a color remover called "Color Oops" that should be able to remove the color. If that doesn't work, you will need to either go to a professional stylist or just let it grow out or fade.

get darker hair- women with dark hair are sexy (but don't dye it black---no good looking like Martica Addams)
(but the el-vira look is also sexy, depends on what kind of body you have.

Please take my advice. Go to the hair dresser! Reds are hard to deal with. They'll know what to do, that's why they're professionals.
