I'm close to getting back into the dating world after being a widower for 3 years. The marriage lasted 20 years. My question is this, I'm 5'9" approx 180lbs, in decent shape. I would like to know where to meet women, but not in a bar atmosphere, what area works better these days?

The bar is the only place I have been able to meet guys. Oh, and from my some of my friends.
I've been lucky a few times at the supermarket.
I have not tried any internet sites- but I have a cousin that left her husband and married a guy she only spoke with over the internet.

well what worked for me was the yahoo personals, i went with the 7 day free trial and had them hook me up with people with photos only and the areas around me within sertain miles of where i live, and i started talking to them and i found my husband there. its worth a try! there is another way though if you dont like that one. you can do things like if you like art, go to an art gallery and see if you can meet somone there, or if you like concerts, go to a concert and look there, what ever you are interested in, find a place that has stuff like that and at least you are going to a place that will have ladies that have something in common with you. good luck.

The best place to go would be where you enjoy going, so you can find someone who enjoys the same.
Also, try social groups, online dating sites, karaoke nights.
Where I live, they have Mixer parties at Museums. Really neat. Look into that.
