It means your child ate something green or with green dye. My son gets that way when he eats fruit snacks. No need to worry.

All the answers so far are right but to be sure you need to check exactly what shade of green it is, then take some of the poo to your doctor or the hospital and they can test it for you. If its a nice shade of green you might want to take some to the paint shop and get them to mix a batch of the same colour cos you might not get it again. Also to be on the safe side don't let your child poo on the lawn, you'll never see it until it's too late. Hope some of this helps.

Could be iron supplements. has your child been taking new vitamins or cereal with a lot of extra iron in?
Green poo in babies can mean wind but I've not heard of it in a 3 year old.

They probably drank grape Kool-Aid. If there isn't a drink dye involved, then is the child having diarrhea? If a fever accompanies the green stool, then call your doctor. If the child is acting normally, check to see what they have been eating and drinking that was purple or red.

Not to worry, kool-aid or jello causes this. I had a scare once with mine, then I remembered he'd drank red kool-aid. If the child is in pain, then I would check with his pediatrician, but I'd guess the only thing you noticed was the color so I wouldn't be too concerned.

My daughter had a few green poos when she was 18 months. chinese doctor said it was wind (in chinese medicine theory and he made a herbal concoction that i had to put on her belly and she was sweet after that. (Took 3 days, mixed the herbs with olive oil)
I think she got it cause she ate too much fruit.

She ate something blue is my guess !!
Blue smarties, blue pop or ice lolly
Me and my son had a vodka blue one evening and we both had green pee ! very very green, almost luminous
I didn't look at my poo ;)
All my kids pood green when they were babies if they ate blue stuff, verging on turquoise.
And beetroot made beautiful purple poo
