1. There are over 10000 fragments (I think that's the number -- but it's large, in any case) of documents on which the Bible is based. These were what were used to make our modern-day translations.

2. There are so many published physical copies of the Bible out there that people will always have something to compare any new copy to.

3. People who are zealous about their scripture are constantly challenging just the new "official" modern-day translations -- which are backed by scholarly research. If there was a purposeful glaring error in a modern print-run, I don't doubt they'd notice and be yelling about it from the rooftops within a day.

Seriously, the major question is whether the New Testament (for example) is consistent with itself over the centuries, but whether the original writings themselves were authentic and what their source(s) were.

As far as the Old Testament goes, the Dead Sea Scrolls found around 1950 were made near the time of Jesus; and the text there conforms to the modern-day translations we've been using. So the OT is verifiable to within the century around 0 AD.

This is a complex issue but also simple. No serious scholar doubts the efficacy of the Bible. There are too many original texts to doubt that the events recorded happened.
That being said - nothing prevents people from changing the Bible to suit their liking. Many people have, like Jehovah's Witness', and the Mormon church for example each took the Bible and modified it to their liking.
I recommend the New International Version because it is easier to read, but King James Version is an accepted standard.

The Bible belongs to the Catholic Church. All the authors and writers of the New testament were Catholics and the church is the one who decided on it's canon at the councils of Hippo and Carthage in the late fourth century under Pope Saint Siricius. Any erroneous translations have been banned by the church. Just look for her imprimatur and nihil obstat inside the first pages.

The bible was written by 4 people. With their own beliefs and therories. You should only trust what Jesus said and still you have to remember that some of what he said is made up as well. A really good reference is another holy book called the quran.

It's not by blind faith. For the old testament, you can read the original Hebrew or Greek translations. Aside from that there are numerous translations (NLV, King James, etc.) pick up a few and compare. You'll find they all say the same thing -- just worded slightly differently

What? Jokers have been adding and subtracting from the stories since the original verses were written. That is why the bible is such a great story book!

The Bible is tested like all other books of ancient literature. You check other contemporary sources to see if they verify one another. You also study history and archaeology for proof of the events and peoples it mentions.

It's called higher criticism. Look into it.

Well it's mythology.
Who would bother. Far more lucrative to sell fake artifacts like "James Ossuary" which I laughed my *** off when they claimed it was "genuine" because of course, how can a fictional character, have a "genuine" ossuary. (an ossurary is a small casket to hold bones).
And of course, like everything else in christianity, it was found to be a fake. No suprises here...
