So far only 1 person answered correctly. And for those who claiming that Jesus said that.. well how about reading the bible. Jesus was not even in the grand master plan when it was introduced by GOD.
Many modern Christians claiming that it was Jesus which only indicates they never read the bible. its in OT , NT just copied like many other things and then assign to Jesus.
Love thy neighbor as thyself. -- Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27, Romans 13:9-10, Galatians 5:14, James 2:8

Even after i post the exact verses where it was originated ( 1000 years before Jesus even was born) ppl still posting that Jesus said that. Unless they don't even know who wrote the NT. Peace

Do anything with a trueheart with lie at its minixium. And go on.......with ....everyday's review and admire to ourselves," (Our Name),U doing it very well, how could U do it much better,at easy as happiest and keep on.......
If everyone of us do more or less like this, we will be all very lovely, than what U mentioned is naturally get real......and so on.....

Jesus taught this, which is an ancient Jewish belief. If you look at the last few commandments of the Ten Commandments, they say the same thing. Do not covet what belongs to others, be just . what does it mean? If you search, it means love others as you would love yourself.
In my belief the system of the Lord was established in stages. Abraham's job was to establish monotheism, which is the foundation of peace. If everyone would accept the ONE LORD as your common CREATOR, how can we kill anyone. If you love Rembrandt, how can you destroy his paintings.
Moses came and established the Laws of social justice. A society that is not even just can not be taught about mercy. Justice always has to come first before mercy can come. If you said I took something from you, and I said I did not. But you replied, but .. I am forgiving you what you took. AND I am insisting hey hey.. I did not took anything, who are you to be merciful. . .. thus MERCY can become an injustice if JUSTICE would not clearly establish that I did wrong. If not unjustly forgiving me in an error.
Once Justice was firmly established and a system was in place, then Jesus came to teach mercy to a nation that was well versed in Justice and already had some amount of mercy. Jesus took them to the next spiritual level of expansive mercy.
But then when his disciples discarded the laws of JUSTICE, and put Mercy on apedestal without Justice, then the need arose for someone to correct his imbalance.
THAT job was given to OUR PROPHET MOHAMMAD. Who brought back the balance to Justice and Mercy and put Monotheism at the core without any national or racial pride.
Love thy neighbor as thyself is ultimately the core of faith and the route to salvation. If everyone would do that, there would be no war. BUT people take from the weak and steal without paying the dues.
Abraham settled in Canaan at the behest of the LORD. HIs settling did not unsettle those who lived there. He was a merciful man, a man of God, whose coming caused peace to breakout all over.
So, practice love thy neighbor, not just parrot it, which acquiring the property of others by force. THAT is the only way to peace.

Actually similar phrasing is in the basis of Celtic, Wiccan, and Pagan beliefs which predate the bible, Similar translations can also be found in Confucianism and other pre-Christian era religions as well

All teachings recorded in the Bible originally come from God. So to answer your question, God taught that- or Jesus...but since they are one in the same, either reference will work.

I believe Jesus said something similar, but not worded exactly the way you have it. Many people have said that in different variations. Very true. You wouldn't believe how happy one could be if they simply let love flow freely from themselves and shared it with everyone. Treat others as you wish to be treated. :)
God bless,
Jai
