Why not. The 2 cheeses are very different as pointed out. Ricotta is a whey cheese (made from the whey part of milk) and has diferent properties because of this, such as not melting into runny goo.
But I think it would work fine. Adjust for the different tast. I like the suggestion of adidng other cheeses.

Ricotta Cheese and Cottage Cheese are two different kinds of cheese therefore your Lassagna would taste very differently if you used Cottage Cheese rather than using Ricotta Cheese.

Yes, it has a somewhat different texture and flavor, but in lasagna where so many different flavors are present, cottage cheese is an acceptable substitute for ricotta.
It is lower in fat and cost, which is a bonus. For best results, drain cottage cheese in a colander before using.

I mix cottage cheese and Parmesan cheese together in place of Ricotta. I learned it from Weight Watchers.

Italians and people of Italian decent all over the world are shaking their heads.
My mother used to use cottage cheese when she made lasagna but she is Polish and thus has an excuse.
It's just too sour for my taste.

I don't suggest it because ricotta and cottage cheese have totally different flavors and textures. Besides, ricotta is better for cooking.

I actually use large curd cottage cheese in lasagna a lot but you may have to drain it a little so it is not too wet. I also add 2 egss and grated parm to help bind things together better.

You can if you like the taste of cottage cheese in your lasagna. First drain it using cheesecloth to remove some of the moisture.

Yes, lots of people use it because Ricotta cheese is more expensive.
