When you question someones faith they go caveman on you. So what if Jesus had a wife and kids? Maybe we wouldn't consider sex so dirty or shameful and priests could marry and not molest alter boys. But then what would the Catholics have to do? Just teasing!!! Be open minded! You just might learn something! Besides, The DaVinci Code is a work of FICTION. Well written. I enjoyed it immensely! And no, the Devil didn't make me read it or like it!
It did contain a great many facts. The Roman Catholic Church does dictate exactly what's in the bible by editing the books, ie keeping some out.

Common knowledge always speaks against what lots of people believe as a whole. Christianity and other forms of religion are prime examples. It's just the fact that people will always take their own likability into account, their desire to be accepted and/or loved, before any type of truth. It's simply more important to them. Why is it that all those in high school always follow the same dress code of style? The same reason. They could be their own person. They could have their own thoughts and ideas. But more people like them if they're like them. It's the same way here. People are the way they are because people have communicated to them one way or another that they like or accept them for being that way, because in the beginning, when you were just figuring yourself out as a teenager, or child in puberty, you'd commonly test different actions to see how you're responded to. Ever say to yourself "I'll never do that again" to an action you did? It's for this same reason. You got a bad outcome in some form or another and did not want it to repeat itself. There are different groupages in this world. Some seperated by cultures, others by religions, or both. Ideas and Beliefs in general, birds of a feather flock together some would say. Your basic needs and desires as a human befront anything you could possibly bring to the table as an egotistical being. It's for this reason that it almost feels like human existance as a whole is just puppeteering by forces created in our genetics. Hormones, feelings, emotions. Why are they there when everything else in the universe is indifferent? Well, to keep us going of course. It's our motivation. Hedonism. Find pleasure, avoid pain. That's it. But either way, life goes on, with our without our input on the matter. Best to simply know our roles and shut our mouths, as I'd heard it said before.

I like the fact that there are some legitimate questions about the functions of the church and how it has been changed over the years.
As a pagan I feel more justified in my criticism of the church making itself the "middleman" between the common folk and the Divine.
Satan is a Judeo-Christian-Islamic idea in which more than half of the world does not believe.
Dan Brown did the Western world a favour.

I see where you are trying to go with this, but there are several holes in your logic:
1) Define normal.
For me, "normal" can't be defined when discussing people because of the myriad of personality variables. But apparently your definition (like most) is "people like me". So our definition differs.
2) Define healthy
I assume you refer to mental health. My definition is people who are reasonably well-adjusted, who are comfortable and content with who they are. I can infer no assumptions about your definition other than you seem to be specifically excluding Christians. So again our definition differs. I would venture to say that the true definite of healthy in this context would be as unanswerable as the definite of normal, for the same reasons.
3) Define intelligent.
There are numerous ways of defining intelligence. There are IQ tests, Mensa, advanced education from colleges and universities and the Bell curve - none of which provide an accurate measure of intelligence. There is also the so-called common sense (a misnomer since so few have it that it should be known uncommon sense) - also known as horse sense. Then there are specific skills associated with specific tasks that help to define intelligence. And of course we can’t forget savants, for their intelligence in single subjects is unparalleled. I could again come to the same conclusion as numbers 1 & 2, but for the purposes of finishing let’s say that your comment obviously infers that you mean people of faith are not intelligent.
Needless to say, as a reasonably healthy and intelligent Christian I refute your opinion. But I will answer your questions from my perspective. Was he tricked? Or did he do it maliciously? Whatever he reason only he can know. But it makes no difference. The Scriptures were twisted around by a piece of fiction that some chose to take as fact. I think it says far more about our culture’s inability to comprehend the difference between fact and fiction than about faith, agnosticism or atheism.
Either way your response to it shows that despite your elitist attitude you have been affected like the great unwashed. So why do you even feel a need to respond? And why are these things so far-fetched to some who undoubedtly sees himself as very tolerant, progressive & open-minded. But are you? Do you give faith any possiblity of being credible? If not I have to wonder who's open minded & who's not.

Dan Brown wasn't tricked by anybody. His book is pure fiction though. There are so many lies within its pages that I can't even go into it in one post. However, I do think he chose to write lies solely for financial gain.
