LOTS of things....the Vietnam war, thats when the counter culture began (i.e. flower children/hippies), its when drug use began to be a problem, and it is also when the most talented singers/poets started out (i.e. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix (all three died in 1970 from drug overdose and all three were 27, FREAKY!).....

To hair, do you mean? Mostly, especially towards the end of the decade, it was long for boys and girls - often unkempt and straggly looking. Young men often had beards, moustaches,sideburns - it was all very hairy!
