-I have never been asked to a Sadie Hawkins dance...
-I have never been asked to ANY dance...
-I have never asked anyone to a dance...
-I have never, and will never, DANCE...
Also...
-I have never asked a girl to go out on a date...
-I do not celebrate Valentine's Day...
-I do not celebrate the birthdays of adults (21 and over)...
...and those are just a FEW of the 'ground rules'... :-))
All of the above is true... Given that, my life has always been Hawkins-esque; it kind of had to be. I have never understood the reasoning behind the sending, receiving, and deciphering of cryptic flirtations; what a senseless waste of time!
...Hey, Mr. Sky, I'm doing fine... How are you?...
...Was that a coded message you just sent me?... :-))

We didn't have a Sadie Hawkins dance...hell, we didn't have any dance. Any guy seen dancing when I was in school would have been mercillessly killed by the other kids for being 100% without-a-doubt gay.
I did get invited to our annual riot, but I was too shy to get involved. I watched from the corner of the combat-zone with a Diet Coke and a faraway expression, bobbing vaguely along in time to the chanting...
Ah, happy days....

We actually did have Sadie Hawkins dances at my HS back in the stone age. I was asked to two of them & went.
I don't know about wanting life ALWAYS being "Hawkinsesque", but it never bothered me if a gal asked me to go out, dance, etc. I enjoyed it. :-)

No, my school did not really have dances let alone a Sadie Hawkins dance. Good times back home near Vladikavkaz, Russian Federation.
We had more fun ridiculing and teasing our one-eyed mule Igor... ah ha ha...we're not that backwards there.
Eh, the girls have typically asked me for whatever anyways. I just sort of sit in a dark corner of the place hosting the social event, and they crowd around me anyways...probably because they can't see my face clearly in the dark.
Nonetheless, may the spirit send you a sturdy mule (good luck)!

I'm a chick. I just thought I'd add my 2 cents. I have never been to a Sadie Hawkins' dance. Had I been, I'm sure I would have asked the guy who never gets asked to anything. However, with my luck, I'm sure he would've turned me down. *sighs* Such is life.

To be honest...I don't recall my high school ever having a Sadie Hawkins dance.
It would have been nice, though, if the girls had taken more initiative to go after what they wanted (or thought they wanted, anyway).

I love it when ladies ask me out!! It tells me two really important things:
1) They have really really good taste.
2) They know what they want and don't mind asking for it.
I've been to several Sadie Hawkins dances, and while I don't dance, I could always be counted on to spike the punch and make my date laugh her tube top off.

No, we don't do that in Canada (a shame really), but at dances and roller skating, we would have ladies choice which was lots of fun. Fortunately for me, I was into Ball Room Dancing starting in High School and became a teacher afterwards, so I seldom got to sit at dances.(Oh my aching feet) Yes, I would love things like that, but I was never too shy anyway about that, and had no problem asking women to dance, or what have you.
