Where I'm from it's generally considered polite to close the toilet completely after use. That means putting down the seat and the lid that closes the toilet. So women have to lift up the lid when they go to the toilet and men have to lift both the lid and the seat. Same amount of work for both genders and everyone is satisfied.
If there's no lid, then I don't see why men should rather be the ones to put it down than women.

Well let's assume you do have to lower the seat once a day to take care of business and don't have to have it down for five other visits. That means that 1/6 of the time you have to have the seat down.
If you lived with just ONE woman they would need it down 100% of the time. This means out of the 12 total trips to the bathroom over 50% of them would require the seat down. Since you live with three women the percentage is over 75%.
I'm also going to guess one of those women is the one paying for rent/owns the home.
Over looking all that it is polite to lower the seat when you are done. You state you don't like touching the seat to raise or lower it and you want it left up so you only have to do so once a day. Meaning all the women would have to touch it to raise and lower it every time they use it when you at least don't have to handle the seat 1/6 of the time. (Please assure me you wash your hands after using the bathroom no matter what you do in there.) I also recomend using your foot to raise/lower the seat and flush.
I have also had to deal with the seat not being down when I've had to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. I have fallen in the blasted toilet because I'm skinny and I never turn on the lights. (Plus living in the country it is dark at night) You hate touching the blasted thing... think of how "Nice" it is to settle down on the nasty rim.
All that being said I don't sit on public/communal toilet seats anyway as I've mastered the art of hovering. I don't care if the seat is up or down in public rest rooms. However in my own home the seat not only stays down but the lid also remains closed as I have pets.
So this is just a matter of consideration, politeness, and you not being able to pass the buck accusing others of being lazy.

Okay,
If I get married, I'm pretty sure the toilet seat issue would be the death of my marriage.
I HATE THE TOILET SEAT UP!!!! It's so not pretty - especially if it's in an office setting where a number of people use the bathroom during the day but it's only cleaned once a week.
It's not about falling in - no one's that stupid (I don't think*questions self*) - it's about it not being visually pleasing.

Keep the toilet seat up when you pee and then put it down when you are finished. How hard is that to understand? you need to grow up. How would you like it if we hogged all the toilets in the whole entire world? Where would go to pee, because we girls don't like to touch the toilet seat everytime we go to the bathroom. Why don't you clean the toilet every single week and then you can complain all you want to.

Think about what you just said. You're being lazy yourself by not lowering it. It's common courtesy. You guys leave the toilet seat down when you're going #2 dont you? That means that the majority of the time that the toilet is being used, the toilet seat must be down. Therefore guys should lower it when they are done. Not everybody leaves the seat up. Women aren't used to the toilet seat being up. We forget, then sit down, and fall in. Be a man, take care of your women. Then men like you wonder why they're single! No respect!

If a guy can advance it up then he might want to manage to placed it back down. It in straight forward words takes some seconds. If he won't be able to attempt this then he's being lazy. It should not be the girls duty to placed the lavatory seat down. And we do not favor to work out his urine on the lavatory rim. this is gross.

Really, everyone should go all the way and actually put the lid down, not just the seat. I read in a magazine article that when you flush germs become airborne and so it's better to have the lid down to keep the germs from getting up into the air you're in that little space breathing!

I live with 2 guys and it would be a cold day in hell before they remember to put the seat down. It does kind of suck, specially when i get up in the middle of the night to go pee and almost fall in, but i rather that then have to sit on piss when i go to the bathroom. You know when living with people there are just something that you have to stop b*tching about.

I think they never get to thinking they have an option. They always use it down. To them a toliet is made to sit on. I was raised in a house with all guys and were told to leave the seat up. Real world they want it down. Girls should learn there is an option with the toliet. That is why they have a hinge on the seat.
