Take a kitten to be examined and have shots at 6-8 weeks old. Your kitty will get 3 sets of boosters before she is fully vaccinated, with rabies given with the last booster!! Make sure the vet checks the kitten for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS (FIV) and if your kitten is negative for both of these diseases make sure you have the vet vaccinate for both of these diseases because sometimes they are optional, but they are both very contagious and deadly to cats!! Also have your vet do a fecal exam under the microscope so that your kitten can be treated for worms, if she has any.

Kittens should go for their first shots at 4 weeks of age. The second set of shots is given at 8 weeks.

You can start at 6 weeks with their first shots up to twelve weeks. You don't want to wait any longer than twelve weeks though so you can start him or her on the right track and decrease the chances of getting sick. If this kitten was purchased from a breeder it should already have it's shots. If it was given to you or you found it, I recommend taking it to your local vet for a full examine. You want to make sure this kitten is healthy and free of disease before you invest in injections.

I think that to be on the safe side, a month or a couple weeks over a month would be great, especially if it is an outdoor cat.
