My husband died a year ago. My son's seem to think I am to old to date I'm only 42 years old.

Sounds like they're having more trouble handling their fathers passing than you are. Just remember that it's your life, not theirs, that you have deal with. You don't mention how old they are but if they're teenagers they're probably still at home. And the thought of their mom having a boy friend (sex) maybe just a little too much for them to handle. It never occurred to them that you were intimate with their father. But now it's all they see.
Be patient and discrete. Go out in the evenings and don't have anyone pick you up at the house. Don't start putting them off for a date. In a few years they'll be ready to move on too.

I will tell you this .. You need love and companionship .your son's are growing older and they need to understand that you will love them just as much if you are with a man. Life is too short.......
It is time for you now. ......
Let them know that you will always care for and love them.
